I’ve recently joined the C6 ranks, after trading in my 14 6 cyl Camaro. It was a nice handler but no where near what my new (to me) 08 m6 can do. The same entrance ramp that was a little sketchy at 65 is now an easy 82mph. So with my new Vett at 80,000 miles how do I know when it’s time to replace suspension parts? I don’t know what a new one feels like. It tracks straight, no weird noises, passes the bounce test.... how do I know?

PS- best car ever!
Before you just start changing parts, do some simple inspections. You want to look at shocks for any signs of leakage & then various components with bushings that MAY have worn....tie rod ends, sway bar links & chassis bushings, control arm bushings (front & rear), etc. This presumes that you're not hearing any "clunks" from the suspension which would be a sign of a bad bushing. Access to a lift or being able to raise the front & then the rear is preferable, but you can jack one corner at a time. Visually inspect the shocks....any signs of leakage or any skim cost of oil means they're bad. Otherwise, if it makes you feel comfortable, go ahead & change out. If you do so, I would recommend going to a premium aftermarket shock like Koni or Bilstein. Next, grab each wheels at 12 & 6 and the 10 & 3.....apply back & forth pressure to see if anything feels loose. Again, if all feels tight, I would leave things alone, although replacing the sway bar chassis bushings & links is easy DIY.

Congrats. If the shocks are OEM, they need to be replaced. There's no way they can go 80k miles and still be nearly as effective as when new.
That said, if you're happy with the way the car handles, and it seems so, and there's no weep from the current shocks, replacement is optional.
Just curious...Is this your first vehicle to ever own? If not, you figure it out the same way you figure it out for other vehicles. If it bounces going down the road, or if it bottoms out, the shocks probably need to be changed. Remember....its a Chevrolet, not a Rolls Royce or Ferrari.

as I said in the op- no noises, tracks straight and doesn’t bounce.... I was hoping for some tips on end link play, or camber changes...thanks for the help... maybe next time- shhhhh
Do shocks. If they are original then they are shot. Otherwise, it’s fine. I’ve got a 100k and that’s all I’ve replaced. Maybe sway bar bushings.
Shock wear and tear is more of a driver style characteristic and a road quality issue. Shocks may not be worn out if the car is/was driven easily and/or on smooth roads......

if you are interested in tire life, use the Pfadt alignment specs for optimal tire life...……………
The Camaro was nice, but there was one at every stoplight. And although it was 323hp from a 6 it certainly was no muscle car. Corvette was the dream I always wanted and my clean clean 08 was the perfect upgrade

I can add that I have upgraded my 05 with z06 sways, moog end links, new z06 shocks and a z06 rear leaf spring. Definitely feels much better and connected to the road now. Also lowered and did a 4 wheel alignment. Feels like a different car.
