Door latch closed while door is open

I had the door open on my 88 Vette and the latch got pushed “up” I believe so now I can’t close the door cause it’s bouncing back from the latch being closed, I can’t seem to get it to release and open so I can close the door. WTF! Any possible suggestions?

Have had this happen on other vehicles. What's worked for me is using a screwdriver to apply downward pressure to the lower portion of the door latch mechanism while pulling on the door handle. Good luck.

Not a big fan of forcing parts and hoping for a good out come. I would go over to the dealer and talk to a Corvette mechanic.

With the door unlocked, hold the door handle up and use a screwdriver to flip the latch back to the open position.

This is not a big deal.
