Default 2008 corvette link error

I was driving and the traction control light and check engine light came on. Me being me stupid I was driving and plugged a code reader into the oBD port to clear the check engine light and it sent it into anti theft mode. I used my key fob and got it out of anti theft mode but now when I try to clear the check engine light with the code reader it says link error. I have used 2 different code readers and I have also tried both code readers on other vehicles and they both work fine.
I would like to get it fixed this car is killing me.
What have I done that trouble codes can’t be read

Check the fuses, IIRC one of the 12v lighter fuses also powers the OBDII port.

Come again????????

The GM land bus fuse is the bigger blue 20 amp fuse dead center of the BCM.

So OBD II port goes directly to the BCM, and if you have a problem with the scanner not connecting to the BCM, then you have a problem with either the OBD II port, the BCM connector, or the BCM itself.

As for your problem, start with disconnecting the battery for a few mins, reconnect it to hard reset all the modules, then pull the codes and list them.
Note, don't forget to reindex the windows when you reconnect the battery.

I checked all the mini fuses under the hood and in the passenger side compartment.
It isn’t that the OBD doesn’t have power when I plug my code reader in it powers up , it is as the code reader is reading when it should display the codes it says link error. I hope you or someone can help me figure it out. I am worried to death I have done serious damage to the car by trying to clear the code while the car was running. I literally have lost sleep over it. I can’t sleep due to thinking about it. I guess I will have to make a trip to the dealer to get some piece of mind
please continue to help

and yes I will do the hard reset by pulling the battery cable now. Thanks for the pic of where the fuse is. If the hard reset doesn’t work I will try the fuses and yes I learned about re index the windows lol

How old is your main battery? It is possible that electricle gremlins appear when the battery starts to get a bit older. I just personally experienced a hiccup, and since replacing the battery (previous one was of unknown age) I haven't had a repeat.

Thanks a lot guys. Looks like partsgarage had the answer. I pulled battery cable left it off for 40 minutes and it seemed to corrected all issues. I drove it on a 1.5 hour trip with no issues.
Thanks a lot to all of you.

Disconnect the battery. Sometimes this works when the car gets confused....

Don't do this anymore. Too many drivers have something else going on while they're driving down the street and sooner or later, it's going to cost them BIG TIME.

I assure you I won’t.
I just got all caught up and didn’t realize how dangerous and how blessed I was.

Remember the reboot trick for the future if/when weirdness happens.
Many electronic gremlins disappear after a reset vs shops charging big $ for diagnostic time.

Glad you're back on the road.
