In my car, the temperature displays automatically.
When you first start the car, the reading won't be accurate because it's picking up heat from the pavement. I think with most cars, you need to drive a few miles / minutes.

You didn't understand the OP's question. OP wants it to display the current outside temperature NOW, without waiting for it to update per the instructions in the owner's manual.
OP wants it to be accurate NOW.
I don't remember exactly which 3 buttons on the A/C controls you have to press to do that.

I understood the question. I'm not certain that RIGHT and NOW go together in this instance.

No, that's not why it's not current.
Read the owner's manual:
If the outside temperature goes up,
the displayed temperature will not
change until:
. The vehicle's speed is above
19 km/h (12 mph) for
five minutes.
. The vehicle's speed is above
52 km/h (32 mph) for two and
one‐half minutes.
These delays prevent false
readings. If the temperature goes
down, the outside temperature
will be shown when you start the
vehicle. If it has been turned off
for less than three hours, the
temperature will be recalled from the
previous vehicle operation.
