Default RPI rattle on MGW shifter

So I installed a new MGW shifter and RPI ****. Once warmed up, annoying rattle in the ****. Verified by replacing RPI with stock **** and rattle disappeared. Have tried adding insulation to the stalk with no success. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't used any RPI *****, but I can tell you that the stock **** is the only one that will definitely never rattle. I previously had the LG "man ****" and it rattled/buzzed slightly and it annoyed me enough that I sold it, put my stocker back on, and wired up an NPP switch myself. Stick with OEM if you don't want any rattles.

EDIT: Or look into the MGW shift *****. I heard they're pretty great!

My MGW was fine, then I removed the **** and damaged the rubber around the top of the shift lever where the **** fits. Slight rattle at higher rev's. So I put two layers of electric shrink insulation around the top and no noise. May not be your problem but worked for me.

The rubber on mine also disentegrated when I installed the ****. Removed it and have tried a number of isolation methods with no luck. Thanks for the replies. May just stick with the stock shifter and recover it.

Or call MGW, IIRC their customer service is quite good.
Rattling was a common complain w/ early MGWs, some internal issue.
Back then if a customer called w/ complain new part(s) to correct issue were sent effectively putting an end to the matter. From memory, mind you.

Newer versions of MGW corrected rattling problem, so somewhat confused since you said it's a new install.
Members using newer versions never knocked, only praised.
If there were a similar to older versions someone would've surely bitched by now.

G/L, a lot worse things than stock shifter as long as shifts are improved.

My "rattle" with an MGW shifter isn't with the **** at all (I don't think), but seems to be the shift lever itself. It will rattle in concert with RPM. However, if I put a slight bit of pressure to the right of where the lever normally rests in any gear, the rattling goes away or is lessened considerably.

Any clues as to what my issue might be?

For some reason, the ball shifter **** seems too old school for a C6 to me. The OEM one just fits the car perfectly

Came upon this thread via search. Have the flat stick shifter version that does not accept OEM ****. Same issue as OP. Verified **** snuggly fit, tightening didn’t work. Had plumbers tape handy, tried a fairly generous wrap (maybe 6 rotations), remounted ****, took her for a drive, no more rattle!

Hope this helps someone else.

I have a 2013 Grand Sport with 27,xxx miles. I've been daily driving it for over a year now. Around May 2023 it started making the noise you hear in the video above. It was subtle at first but now it pretty much does it through all gears. It doesn't seem to matter if I have the clutch pressed all the way in or just cruising, it does it in all gears. In person it's not as loud as it is in the video.

I've already tried an MGW shifter but there was no change. I bought a replacement OEM shifter and boots but still no change.

I have already taken it to a transmission shop, they test drove it and said the transmission shift perfectly and they don't think it's a transmission issue. They didn't charge to test drive but they said it would cost a lot to take everything apart down there to get a look.
