Default Wireless Back-up Camera Install

I am going to install a Peak wireless unit in my 2012 base coupe. If possible, I would like to wire it into the driver side vanity light. Has anyone ever done this? If so, any helpful hints would be appreciated. If not doable, I'll look to hardwire it into the rearview mirror if possible.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing, but all of the Peak wireless camera's I'm finding come with a 3.5", 4.3", or 7" monitor. The C6 does not have monitors built in to the vanity mirror or the rearview for you to wire into and that monitor is way too big to cleanly mount at either location.

I think most of us have backup cameras that wire directly into our aftermarket stereo headunits. When using a solution like yours, I'd just mount it to the dash.

As it sounds like you're not intending to use the monitor, why did you select this particular unit to begin with? There are a lot of inexpensive, backup cameras that connect to a in-dash DVD receiver or other existing monitor. Seems silly to buy this one and not use the monitor it comes with.

Hi, you may want to contact forum member "4SUMERZ" or check out his posting. He did a terrific job of installing the monitor in the driver vanity mirror, has a great write up and he's super friendly and willing to share his write up. I followed his steps, just a little different modification, I installed front and rear, plus kept the cover on the vanity, very happy with outcome, but I did not document my project. My thanks to 4SUMERZ. Good luck.

Maybe my post was misleading. I will be using the Peak monitor - I am just looking to hardwire the 12v power source. The monitor will mount to the sun visor. Just me personally, but I don't like things mounted on the windshield or dash via suction cups. The 3.5" Peak monitor will fit nicely on the visor and when I want to use it, I'll just flip down the visor.

Thanks for the heads-up. I think I remember reading that post some time back. I remember there was lots of measuring and cutting, but the end result looked good. I'll do a search and review the process.

Thanks again.
