Looks like the majority says "no" - I went to Bloomington Gold Indy last weekend - only saw 2 cars out of hundreds both C5 - so that was enough for me to say "go for it" =
Just my 2 cents, but ws banners, like white letter tires and rear glass louvers, only look right on disco era corvettes.
So why do the gaudiest Vettes with fake vents and the 'MURICA, F-YEAH! murals on the underside of the hood always win the car shows? Clean, tasteful mods are mostly ignored.
(In case anyone might have forgot the name of this great car from the former Soviet Union / CCCP)
.
I used to own and daily drive one of these. Fantastic little car. Super cheap. SUPER SUPER cheap. I regularly got 50mpg in it. At 90 mph, though, it would vibrate like crazy. Not just like a steering / balance wobble, but like all the body panels. Heh. Oh, and it would float, too. So, if you ever hit a really really bad rain storm, you could just cruise along slowly and float through any trouble. All the platic bits broke constantly, but the engine ran for over 300,000 miles.

Gaudy vs. clean and tasteful = subjective. I don't think I have ever seen a car win at a car show that I didn't think deserved it. Seen plenty that could have won and plenty that had no chance based on their competition.
Op. I like the retro mods making a comeback. Similar to lettering on the tires.

I cannot read your post without replying to the rude and disrespectful characterization," 'MURICA, F-YEAH! " I've yet to ever see a car at a show with such a banner. I have seen many cars with various depictions of the Stars and Stripes...could that be what you are referring to? Apparently, when you see a mural of a flag, your mind goes to " 'MURICA, F-YEAH!' "That says a lot about you, none of it good. Maybe judges at shows are easily influenced by such a banner. Could it be that's because tens of thousands of people have died fighting for "'MURICA, F-YEAH! ", so that you could go on a forum and be disrespectful?

Well, yes, people did die and I serve so that folks can speak freely. But with that freedom comes responsibility and I apologize for causing offense. I chose how to express myself poorly.
Thank you, Keith. I appreciate you reply, and know that you are sincere. I served, as well, and have a quick temper with regard to respect for the flag, and military...in this case, too quick.
My '89 Avanti had one from the factory when built.......don't know that I would personally want one on the Corvette, but that is just me. You should make yourself happy!
