So, I guess some things have not changed
As I previously posted, it has been 6 years since I sold my 03 Electron Blue Coupe and yesterday I picked up my '13 60th Anniversary Edition GS. As the dealer is about 20-25 miles away, I stayed off the Interstate for my 1st drive home.
Now I know we sit low and it appears everyone behind us is right up on us at stop lights but I swear that folks behind me looked as that they were actually accelerating to get right up on my a$$ as we were moving. I was driving the speed limit as I was getting acquainted with the car but there were a few that noticeably looked like they were doing this.
Is it just me getting old and thinking this? or does this still happen today?

I have noticed that at stop lights, it seems that some people stop very close behind. There was an old guy yesterday that I swear was 6” away from me.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
All rear-view mirrors are not created equal .... I noticed the day I took delivery of my 2011 GS that the cars behind me seemed much closer to me than when driving other cars that I owned.
Fact is ... These cars behind me were really not any closer ... it was the C6 rear-view mirror that made it look that way.
Of course, after driving the car for awhile, you get used to it and don't notice it at all anymore.

LOL - agree. But the thing is I was on two lane (both sides) roads that were not crowded - so anyone that was behind me could have went right around me (I also stayed in the right lane, too) if I was too "slow" for them at the posted speed limit.

A beautiful CE like yours is bound to draw all kinds of attention, good and not so good.
Those who can (retired etc) choose very specific times of day for cruising --if an enjoyable drive & avoiding jackwagons of every stripe is desirable.
It's early morning for me when all of 'em are still in bed sleeping it off.
But once in a while I'll run across a Shelby GT 500, Viper a F/P car which is saying something since it's rural as it gets where I cruise.
Neither of us regardless ride ever angled for a 'race', either.
Just smile & give a polite nod we both know why we're where we are at such an early hour.
Is it just me getting old and thinking this? or does this still happen today?

Most people do get a little close, it seems to be amplified due to the fact the rear end is short on those cars so they feel REAL close.
I doubt people go out of thier way to do it just because of the emblem on the back. Its the semis next to you that cant see or the SUV backing up in the parking lot that worried me. Many times they just cant see the car its too low so gotta be proactive.

I came to the conclusion years ago that the world is full of azzholes..The only thing we can do is either stay home all the time, or deal with them..Its sad ,but thats the way it is in todays world. Thank God I live in a small town where people still respect each other...Anyway, enjoy your beautiful new ride and try to stay away from the idiots...WW

Before I installed a backup camera, I would back into a parking spot only after I got out of my car that I was 3-4 ft from all the back, it is hard to judge just how much room there is between you and an object behind you, I don't even use the inside rearview mirror when driving just the side mirrors

As my wife continues to remind me... "it's not you, it's not the car, it's how people drive".
Add to the fact we car guys think everyone is checking out how cool we think we are...

my Dad taught us when in stopped traffic always make sure you can see the tires touching the pavement of the vehicle in front of you. luckily for me, once in traffic, when I got *** ended, I never hit the guy in front of me...
