Default Driver side door will not open

Drivers door will not open...replaced door pad with right side pad as well as a new pad without success.. Here is the quirky part ...after attempting to open the driver side door with out success i go open the right door and then i go to the driver side door and it opens. Any suggestion will be appreciated

Everything else on the door work? Does the button from the inside open the door? If the door control module malfunctions it will throw a code. Pull your codes and see what you have. If it's electronic you'll have one. Not sure how old your car is but I have also seen chaffed wires in the accordion in the door jam give intermittent issues.

Just for the hell of it, try removal of the battery cable, re-install and re-index windows. That has in the past cured weird problems.

A faulty door module will produce a B-xxxx code, something like a B-2517 possibly. Very very few code readers can read anything other than P-xxxx codes. Only a few like a Tech II or an Autoenginuity with a GM upgrade will read B codes. An emissions scan tool is just going to produce no codes found, but doesn't mean there are no codes.

Nope, you are both correct. Most retail scan tools only read codes stored in the ECM. The door modules talk directly to the BCM and I doubt they would get passed to the ECM. Outside of a TechII, VCX NANO that comes with TECHII/WIN you will need a professional grade scanner to read the BCM codes as Blindspot is suggesting.

The one post about indexing the windows is a quick easy check.

You said the inside button doesn't work. Does that mean same symptoms as outside pad? The window vents to open the door but the latch doesn't work?

Is opening the passenger door and then the drivers door as you described, is that consistent?

Today I swapped the driver side outside door pad with the passenger one and it worked. Problem solved. Just have to order a new pad. Simple fix.

Actually you can save $ by just cleaning the inside of the pad. It is a 15 min. job. Check out Youtube. Very

This procedure was not consistent and now does work at all.

Window vents when inside door open button is depressed and when the door pad is depressed but door still does not open. Disconnected the battery in the slight hope that would work but with in success..
Looks like an expensive($500) visit to MacMulkin. Door jam mechanism is listed at $380 and it looks like a one hour labor. time to buy a C-8. thanks for your help.

I cleaned the driver door pad. No luck. If I wait 5 minutes between tries to open the door it opens every other try. Pretty weird. Any ideas?

I've had the same problem as you on my 2008 for about a year....It will NOT show any codes. The problem on my 08 is the door lock in the B pillar (Door Jam)...Not to common but a lot of vette owners had the same problem.

ACDelco part number 22895755. Is this the correct part to replace the DDM? Do I just remove the DDM from this part or do I need to replace the whole assembly?
