Radar detector help needed
So I'm hopefully about to acquire my first vette, 07 z06. I have my fingers crossed as this has been in the works for over a month and on my third one (long story). At any rate, I have never had a fuzz buster before and think it could be a wise investment. I don't mind investing money in something that's going to give me the return. I haven't done a whole lot of research yet and I have browsed through a few posts on here. What should I expect to get out of one, how reliable are they, how much do you rely on them, like can you be rolling 120 down the freeway and expect to be alerted in time to slow down or? I know there can be a lot of interference in towns with different signals from businesses etc. What units would you suggest? I really appreciate your help with my numerous questions. Located in central ohio if that makes any difference, but plan on traveling too.

Fuzz Buster. Have not heard that for awhile. It all depends what kind of radar the Fuzz are using. I use a passport 8500 works well for me. Lots of threads on here for you to read . Good luck.

With so many cars having auto braking and such, they use radar and it messes up cheaper detectors. Find one that has software to allieve this.
If the cop has a laser and you’re speeding, you’re busted detector or not.

Hello and Welcome,
The Passport 8500 or 9500 (better) are both excellent choices, I have owned both and they have saved me more than a few times!
Good Luck,

Uniden R3 or bust.
Youtube VortexRadar's channel (or go here: https://www.vortexradar.com/ ) and there are TONS of in depth, and short reviews on all various models. Something decent is going to run about 300-600. In my opinion the R3 is by and far the best out there as far as range and options for the price. Runs about 400 for the R3 which has GPS functionality, or 300 for the R1, which is the same model as the R3, but with no GPS.
Uniden's firmware updates and support for their Rx models is 2nd to none in the business. Very good radar detectors and the general "go-to" detectors in the radar community. The reviews online speak for themselves

Well, I did look into brands other than Valentine's V1 but decided to upgrade my existing V1. So far, in limited usage, it works quite well, as it used to, just better now that it has the updates. Not knocking other brands, but Valentine is a valid choice as well.

OneBadLT123....I'm a RADAR novice/rookie myself. A friend at work suggested I check/read www.RDForum.com
He also suggested that the $400 Radenso XP was comparible with the Uniden R1 ....
https://radenso.com/products/radenso...RoC2E8QAvD_BwE
Conclusion UNIDEN and Radenso are the best , and these other suggested brands are 2nd rate

Valentine 1 and the WAZE App running on your smartphone is a pretty powerful combination for dealing with routinely traveled areas and new uncharted territory.
Good luck on your 'new' car acquisition.

I been using Escort and Beltronics radar detectors since the early 80's!!! currently in my Caddy I have the.... Escort 9500ix and in the Vette ...Escort MAX360, the best detectors I ever owned, the GPS blocks the false signals which is great around town, the arrows on the max360 let you know the direction of the threat, along with using the Escort Live app on your phone keeps you informed of radar traps on road trips. The range on both detectors is amazing. It's the first thing I bought after buying my GS. Because Cops, love to pull over Corvettes!!

Uniden. R1 or R3. Best performing detectors on the market right now. On a flat road, you'll get hits on radar at least a mile away, sometimes as many as 5-7 miles away. They DO work. People who say they don't are just too cheap to buy them. Get one, install it, and you won't regret it. Drive safely my friend.

When I bought my C6, I immediately went to Best Buy and bought a Passport 9500 IX. I don’t speed, but it’s nice to know
if Smokey is tracking you. Plus you get updates of speed traps, cameras etc. Good investment!

Do any of the Radar detectors offer protection from the rear if a LEO is following/pacing/coming up on you....
