Default 2005 C6 insurance 19yr old!!

Wondering on how much my insurance will be with parents co-sign. No accidents and the vette value is 22k. I live in Arkansas if that matters. Can I get an estimate please ?

Best bet is to call a couple local insurance companies and get quotes. We could only guess.

and if you’re 19 in a vette, our guesses will all be low.

As others said plus hopefully your license is clean without tickets or the insurance will be higher.

You really need to shop around. When I was about your age, many moons ago, discounts were available if you had really good grades in high school or college. Don’t know if such a thing is still around, but definitely shop around a lot of companies.

Good Luck

Cosign, being the key word here, and will state that your not ready to own a vet this time in your life.

Hence you have not even done your homework on how much is going to cost to just insurance a vet at your age, so will bank that you don't have a clue the amount of money is going to cost for maintenance on the vet as well.

To be blunt, your monthly payments on a vet, will be nothing compared to costs of insurance and maintenance on the vet instead.

What does having someone co-sign for a loan have to do with insurance rates?

Tonybolony it could be anywhere from 150 a month to 300 a month depending on your parents driving record as well as the length of time they’ve been with their current insurance company. That would be my best estimate

My guess is gonna be 350 to 500 bucks a month, depending on coverage.

Only way to find out is to call around and ask. Geico, The General, AAA, Farmers, State Farm, etc. They all provide quotes over the phone. Spend a Saturday calling around or check out their websites for how to request a quote. But you won't get an accurate answer here in a car forum. Too many people in too many locations with too many variables.

Most I ever paid was $1700/year when I was 28 and had a brand new Mustang GT and a slightly used Yamaha motorcycle at the same time with full coverage on both and that was in SoCal. I was a working professional with no tickets or accidents. I thought it was kind of high but paid it nonetheless.

And of course I'm in my 50s and would never ever let my 19 year old kid drive a C6 Corvette. We specifically excluded our 18 year old daughter from our policy when all I had was my 16 year old Camaro and that was nowhere near as dangerous to give a kid as a C6 is. But that's a discussion for a different conversation and not what the OP was asking about.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Does not have to be horrible. Depends on alot of factors and what discounts you can get, if you can be on your parents policy, assuming they are low risk.

My kids, 18 boy and 19 girl with 1 accident are on my policy with the vette. All 4 cars are about 550 each every 6 months with geico in AZ, high theft state we have High coverage.

At that risk level does not seem to matter what car they are driving with our coverage. Swapping from a cooper s to vette was 100 bucks additional per 6 months.

Some companies have quoted me up to 5k for six months, though.

Lots of different factors come into play when determining insurance cost. Shop around online or check with several independent agents. I can tell you this based on your age alone it ain't gonna be cheap.

When I was in my 20's I had a few first gen RX-7's (mid 80's). I remember paying around $130 a month, which based on inflation is right around $300 today. I would say if you have a clean record and decent credit, this would be about right. If you are in school & getting good grades then that would help a little.

Edit: You could do what a guy did in Canada - he legally changed his sex from male to female so we could save on insurance.

You should also try and do a defensive driver course with like AAA, that and the good student discount if your a current student will definitely help bring the rate down a bit, also consider a higher deductible, say like $1000 on your other than collision/collision deductibles. Other than that maybe going with an SUV or truck might be a better and safer option.

What happened to the young OP ... 'Tony Balony'

He has been getting lots of advice to his question, but never came back to this thread he started.

I guess he didn't like the answers he has been getting.

Just another example of a brand new CF member that starts his very first thread, but never comes back ... oh well

My brand new $4,500 Kawasaki Sport bike had higher insurance on it than my brand new $60,000 2014 Corvette. It's about risk factor.

You are going to pay at least $350 per month for you alone on top of your parent's other insured vehicles.

Don't know if it's still the case, but I got my first vette (95 M6 LT1 in 2000) around 19-20 and it was cheaper to insure than the Trans Am I had. Shop around and you should be able to find a decent price assuming a good driving record.

Hopefully tb will be back to give us the answer? Many times I have seen a new member ask a question on their first post and NEVER respond to the answers.
