Took a 1300 mile road trip with the wife and one set of golf clubs and luggage. The car was loaded pretty well.
I do have 4:10's differential and still averaged 26 mpg with 2000-2200 prm about 90% of the time. This = 85 mph plus.
Also lots of higher speed passes especially on Oregon route 97 from Bend down to Weed.
Boy the Oregon roads are nice and 97 has lots of passing lanes as well as being straight so passing when 2 lane is easy.
Soon as I got back in to California the roads became rough and uneven joints. Around the Bay Area it is the worst.
Stayed the night in Shasta City and the next day the town was evacuated do to the Carr fire in Redding Ca.
On the trip home we could not even see Shasta Mountain which is 14,000 plus feet. Smoke was terrible for 200 miles easy.
Any way 58 people out of a possible 75 showed up for my wife's side family reunion at Prineville Oregon on the Ochoco Reservoir.
For me the 540 mile one day trip back got uncomfortable after some 400 miles. We made the trip in 9 hrs 10 minutes total travel time with 8 hours and 25 minutes driving time.
6 hours now at age 70, in this car anyway, seems about it.
I see at 100*+ outside temp 190-192* water and 230-235* oil, again this is at 2100 rpm.
Anyway gotta love the car for this type of driving, so easy to make passes on slower moving cars even a handful of them at a time and 97 is an excellent road for this.
To be sure, this is one fine road car. We've had the 2009 C6 Z51 for a year and a half now with 8K miles added with mostly road miles and have enjoyed every mile. This is one sweet drivin' ride even at the age of 74.
Sounds like a great trip. We take ours from Chino in SoCal up to visit my daughter in your area (she lives in Pacifica) several times each year. 6-7 hours depending on traffic and we love it.

agree with all of the above. well, almost all. as I've got a little ways to go to 70, saddle time hasn't been an issue ( yet ).
just did an 6k mile ( 9 day, 29.2mpg ) road trip. except for not having as much leg room as I would like (6'-2"), I enjoyed it all!
definitely agree on the road condition too. went through S/E Oregon to Idaho & it was nice to 80mph stretches on great roads.
while their are some nice roads in ca., for you need to go where no one is. bay area itself is not kind to corvettes.
glad you had a good time!

shanks for sharing. our cars were made for road trips/getaways! nothing like taking off and not having a clue which direction or where you’ll bed down for the night. we do that quite often; (this wknd included)
