I installed the leave-in pucks right after I bought 13 GS in 2013. I used a dab of clear RTV on each one so they wouldn't rattle or come loose. The car has 45,000 miles on it and they are still in place. You can't see them unless you lay down and look up under the car. It sure beats taking up any space in the trunk which is already scarce. We do a lot of 10 day trips so we need every square inch of storage space.

I had the leave in pucks in my C5, and now have them in my C6. They cause no issues and do not rattle. They are the plastic ones.

I will not get into an argument on this point, but will only say that, 1. You might drop your car off and forget to tell the service people where the pucks are, or, 2. There might be situations that one may be in which are very stressful, leading you to forget to mention the pucks, or where they are.

I put 'em permanently in place, never have to think about it, remember it, etc. Just...My...Opinion...
