My 2007 right rear TPMS died the other day and had the message Service TPMS with the XXXX reading.... I bought a Schrader TPMS and had it installed today at a shop. I have the reset tool and did the reset myself, Everything went great all corners programmed with horn honk. But when I took the car for a drive is still reads 0 PSI and the DIC says right rear tire flat. I actually programmed it with it not installed yet in the tire last night and wanted to see if it would register before install just in case it was defective out of the box...but it registered no problem (horn honk) and said 0PSI when I checked on the DIC which makes sense.
left front, right front, right rear, then left rear(double beep on the last one. also took the FOB with me instead of leaving it on the console when resetting. dont know if that may cause the issue?...dont think it would

When you did the relearn with the TPMS still in the box, were you near the RR wheel? Could you have activated the original sensor instead?

Yeah I layed it on top of the tire when I relearned the new one. But the old one was completely dead---I tried registering the old one before I bought the new one to see if it would wake it up and it wouldnt beep.battery was done
Hence take a reading of the sensor in the tire, and see if it has a pressure reading to start with.
I have the EL-50448. What else can I try to get the tpms to read the correct pressure?? Or is he sensor itself bad...Maybe during the install they damaged it???
I just checked the date code on the box of the my new Schrader tpms and it is 3 years old already....July 2015....Wondering if thats the issue...shouldnt be though its only 3 years old, battery should still be good. like i said before it is registering with a horn honk but shows 0 PSI

Since its the Passenger R tire sensor that is having a problem, you only have a trigger tool, program the sensors again, but program them in the wrong order, hence start with the driver front passenger tire first, then PR, then DR, then drivers front last for the double horn honk. If the sensor in the RR tire is the problem, then the problem will move to the Driver rear in the DIC to narrow the problem down to the RR sensor itself. Hence TPMS will trigger, but has a problem with it's pressure sensor in it, and the reason that you keep ending up with the 0 pressure problem even through there is pressure in the tire.
Note, once you figure out the problem and have the sensor replaced in the wheel, then go back and reprogram the TPMS back in the correct order, so your getting the actual tire locations reading.
As for some after market sensor, have seen the battiers in them only last for a few year, and why I just buy the OEM units isntead.

Thanks DAN will try this and report back. The original OEM sensor itself was manufactured from Schrader(has there stamp on it). So my new one from Schrader should work...strange. The AC Delco tpms has the Schrader name stamped on it from what other members have said.
I was told, and confirmed driving my GS, that it takes about 18 miles of driving or so before the TPMS resets to current pressure. When you start the car it's reading the pressure that was present when you parked the car, so if you set it in the box, it had no pressure to read.

Hi Dano, you mean the passenger front....I programmed starting with the front right passenger first like you said and it moved to the passenger front 0PSI in the DIC. Which makes sense because the second one I programmed was the right rear(In turn the system thinks its the right front), So it looks like that new sensor installed in the right rear is bad??
Yep, bad TPMS that needs to be replaced, since it looks like the problem followed where you programmed that bad TPMS sensor in in the RCDLR programming order.
Hence TPMS is triggering as needed, but it just sending out a zero pressure reading, isntead of the actual pressure in the tire.
Once you do get the bad TPMS replaced in the tire, then make sure to reprogram the TPMS into the correct programming order.

My luck a brand new TPMS dead right out of the box . Just picked up a new OEM ACDelco today..I checked the date code just to make sure and its March of 2018. Will get it installed this week

Interesting info crusher. I was in the same situation as you having one of the sensors in my 2007 starting to fail last summer so I intended to replace them before I put the car back on the road this spring. I had all winter to research and source mine. I read every TPMS related article I could find and was shocked to read a post by someone who bought a brand new sensor from a GM dealers parts counter only to find that the date of manufacture on the sensor indicated that it was 10 years old. I sourced my set of OEM sensors from a specialty high volume TPMS supplier last winter and was satisfied to find that their date of manufacture was October of 2016 making them only a year from manufacture at the time of purchase..
Went in today and got the TPMS replaced with the new AC Delco. And bingo it worked! no issues.... So that new Schrader TPMS was bad right out of the box.
Thanks for all you input guys.
