Default Brake pads

I always liked Hawk pads in a car with slicks. With a 08 C6 Z51 im lost.
I looked their website and it seems that any of the HPS compounds look ok but some are in Red boxes and others are blue.
Can anyone help.

Just call Hawk and ask them what the difference is.

Hence the OEM HD Z51's work/bite well dead cold, but have the heat working temps of close to the HPS pads for autocross use.

So let the heat range of of how you are going to drive the car, dictate the pads needed. As you can see, the HPS pads are not going to start to bite well until the brakes get up to 100* and if all your doing is street driving, then not the pad you will want to run for street use.

Bottom line, if you are going to street drive the car, then High speed road course it, then will really need two sets of brake pads, and ones that when you do switch the pads as needed at the track from the street pads, are not going to cross contaminate the rotors isntead. As for just street use and Autocross use, then the OEM J55 HD pads are very hard pads to beat with its street and higher working auto cross temp range instead.

thanks. Great info.

This is all so new. And fun. I think the heaviest car I raced was 1500# with Driver.

Cant wait to run some of the tracks in the Southeast I’m familiar with.
