Default Rotor Hubs

I am looking to paint the rotor hubs silver and I am tired of looking at the rust that builds up quick. Looking for input on what kind of paint to use on them? Anyone that has any suggestions feel free to chime in and thanks in anticipation of your cooperation!! Thanks!!

I used black caliper paint four years ago. Still looks great.

Yep, go flat/matt black.

As for painting the rotors, mask of the part that the pads will touch the rotors, make sure that the steel is clean, and then paint away. As for getting into the vains of the rotors, use a coat hook through two of the bolt channels to hang it with a piece of rope, then spin the rotors to shoot into the veins.

And again, do black, not sliver, since you want the hub parts to blend in with the darkness of the wheel well areas, not stand out at painted areas instead.

VHT is very good paint if your going to track the car, since it has the heat resistance of 2K that you may end up going to get the rotors up to on a full highs speed road speed coarse car.

The glitch with VHT, it take a while to dry before you can re-coat, and if your just going to street the car only, then something like Rust-Oleum Automotive BBQ & Stove Spray is more than enough with a 1200° F heat tolerance, and has a quicker dry time isntead.

Truth is, most DD cars will never get the rotors up past 600*, and a standard spray enamel paint is more than enough regarding a heat temp range that it will hold to.

FWIW: My buddy painted my calipers and rotor hubs a while back.

Here is what he used on the [new rotor] hubs: "Paint rotors, front were raw, epoxy prime and paint w/stainless paint."

Here's what they look like . . .

I did mine about 5 years ago with a black magic marker (or permanent marker as they are called). Took all of 5 minutes per wheel. Still look good, no rust. $2.00.

I used Tremclad flat black BBQ paint - it's the same company as Rustoleum. I painted it on with a brush to avoid having to mask the friction areas and studs. When it dried, you couldn't see any brush marks, and so far it's holding up perfectly. You might want to try that first, and if you don't like it, go the silver route. I used silver on another car, didn't like the look, and found it difficult to paint over the silver for some reason, as if nothing would stick easily to it. Maybe just the type of paint in this case.
