I was thinking about upgrading my dash and a couple of places sell the OEM 3LT dash. However, they advertise it as only fitting 2008-2013. What did they change in 2008, and how much more stuff would I have to buy to make the swap?

dash difference
besides that, unless it's a Z06 or ZR1 ( as would be noted on the gauges ), not sure of variance.
anybody out there to confirm or educate us?

IDK (I don't know) for sure but having owned a 2008 and now a 2005, I would say, at least, visually they are the same dash. Except, the 2008+ has a two piece center console (w/real or faux leather trim) to the 2005 - 2007 one piece center painted console. (Oh and the 2005 has a "seat belt" light in the tombstone.) So perhaps they are selling only the outer part of the 2008-2013 trim?

The only difference I'm aware of, is the dash/console cover got changed to a carbon fiber look.

05 is the only year to have that awesome steering wheel.

3LT designates options that came on the car. It should have nothing to do with the dash. The 4LT had the leather dash that was attached with some type of adhesive. All 1LT, 2LT and 3LT optioned cars should have the same dash no matter the year.

Check out J-F Customs on EBay for pre-cut leather pieces. I believe the dash piece is only around $325. I’ve got the center console and radio bezel pieces & the quality is excellent.

Once the insurance company pays me what my C5 is worth, I've got my eye on a 2007 C6. My wife wanted me to get a C6 Z06, but I didn't want a car payment that high. So I found a base model that's been made pretty quick. The compromise is that we get the cheaper car, but I have to add some appearance mods. One of them is a leather dash.

If you are looking for the entire dash, and not just the gauges, does the base car you are looking at have the HUD option. 3LT from 2008 likely does and you would have to buy associated parts, harnesses, etc to make it operational. I believe HUD requires a different windshield as well for visability of the projected data. Lots of folks have added HUD so check the forum for install posts.

there is a difference in the mounting bracket that holds the air bag control module under the radio. it can easily be modified to use in another year model car.

I used Ray's complete instruction guide to replace my dash (with air bags blown). I'm not going to say it's simple, but it is plug and play.

And...........given the alarmingly large number of reported failures of the 4LT dash leather (bubbling up), it may be wise to try and address this before installation.
Use Ray Kawal's guide that's linked by 05 Wreck.

Check this out - this example has red stitching, but you can get whatever color you want. Much more cost-effective than swapping out the dash & as others have said the 4LT dash has a ton of problems with the leather lifting.
