I found most offenders ARE Prius drivers. I told my wife several times to watch a Prius next to us at a light as it will most certainly take off like a bat out of hell. She always scoffed at me but, sure enough, the Prius took off as if it was trying to show the Corvette how fast a Prius really is. Even if I took off normally they'd still floor it and have to pass me!
And I'm with cgladish - I'm not passing that particular bus unless it's to block its path so I can get on it.

It's doesn't surprise me anymore when these guys get the itch though,
it's the tesla guys I stay away from.
i wouldn't want to race a prius. even if you win, so what. and if you lose(?) ouch!

There are few cars that can beat your 'Vette. There is nothing to be gained by racing anybody. So you say you beat a Mustang - big deal. That's nothing to brag about, yet if you lost it'd be on the 6:00 news.

Most cars with some kid driving just want to hear ya open it up.... I did the same thing when I was young...
But, the most often challenge I get is from Ram truck drivers here in Georgia... They all think they have a fuggin race car since it sounds good and says "Hemi" on it...
I usually only go fast when I want to, but once in a while it's fun to drop from 6th to 2nd on the freeway when some jack *** in an Acura comes flying up on ya.... Just for a short burst to bring them back to earth...
Street racing had its time in my life, but I got smarter...

Drifting
Was on the highway last week, this red Toyota Corolla right up my a$$, pulls into the right lane trying to pass, goes behind me and comes up in the left lane, traffic keeping the Toyota behind me in all lanes. At one point it gets right next to me on the right but I keep thinking "let it go" and don't bother looking over. This goes on for awhile, finally the Toyota gets next to me on the right again, I'm pi$$ed by now so I look over ready to do battle. Turns out it was a 30 something young lady giving me 2 thumbs up and mouthing what a "beautiful car you have"! I give her a wave, a smile and mouth a "thank you" back...sometimes things aren't what they seem!

I agree that everyone seems to want to show us how fast their pickups, mini vans or priuses are. But just take it as a compliment. And if another stupid subaru pulls up and tries to race me my head might explode. SMH. If it sounds like a trashcan it is a trashcan.
I get the same thing in my C5 that needs paint
