I’m ready to get my car up in the air at home to “play around with it”. Cleaning fender wells, powder coating calipers, cleaning the insides of my wheels and such. I’ve been reading about the different options to keep my car safe. I would love to hear some opinions from y’all, I’m leaning toward the Elite Engineering frame rails that stay on the car. I know it’s important to use something and just want to use what’s best and easiest to use. I’m thinking of building some ramps as well as I have access to a very unique product that most people don’t have access to. If I build them I will document with pics and share. Just need to figure out the measurements....
What I have done on several cars for long and short term storage is lift the car a minimum of 14 inches (Higher is better) at the rocker panel using a hydraulic jack starting at the front using the blue jacking points in the above illustration, Place your jack stands under the front and rear cradles as indicated by the red points.
This also works great for short and long term storage . Instead of using the Elite frame rail rail protecters go with the snap in permanent pucks from RPI. Quick install and they work great, cost is about $40. You can build ramps but what I have found is then you must store them which takes up room in the garage. Using the jack and jack stands take up minimum room in the garage and you can remove the wheels because the car is supported by the cradles.
Not enough ceiling height in my garage for a 4-post lift so went with a Kwik-Lift. Stores flat on the garage floor & I park the Vette on the ramps when not raised.
