looking at replacing my tires on my 07 Base Vert. Will not use goodyear and do not want run flats. Any coments on Continental Extreem or Cooper Brand? Like the Coopers on my truck.
I do like the Michelin Pilots but just want some options.
I have the Conti Extreme Contact Sports. Love them. Ride nice, mostly quiet, and handle the rain with ease. I also do track days with them and they work well for me.
Mine had a new set of Cooper Zeon RS3 on it when I bought it (still does but they are not new any more). I fully expected to hate them, they are about the cheapest tire you can find in GS sizes. I have actually been pretty happy with them. They are quiet, ride well, handle well once warm, work well in rain and don't display any irregular wear patterns or nasty habits like tramlining. I've seen 1.11 g on the g-meter driving on public roads. My biggest complaint, and it seems to be getting worse as they age/wear is lack of traction until they warm up. Even in summer, it's easy to get wheel spin just rolling on the throttle in 2nd. I've got about 14,000 miles on them now and will buy something better in the spring but I'll pay a lot more. I had the previous gen to the Conti Extreme Contact Sports on my 350Z and was quite happy with them, the Extreme Contact Sports are on my short list for next year and may win as they are comparatively reasonably prices.
I have the Conti Extreme Contact Sport on my C5, which replaced Hankook V12's. They're a fine street tire, quiet, predictable, good ride, and very good in the rain with excellent hydroplane resistance. But they're a lousy track tire for HPDE. If you keep it on the street they're fine, otherwise go with the new Potenza or the Michelins. Tire Rack has great info on all the tires you're considering. Good luck.
