Default Replace TPMS Sensors

Hey Guys,

I have an 05 with Z06 wheels. I just got the SERVICE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR on the DIC. To be safe and cause of the age of the car, Im looking to replace all of the TPMS sensors. I know this may be a dumb question, but where do you go to get this done? A tire shop? Jack Williams? Dealership? Amazon is selling the AC Delco sensors for around $47 each.

Anyone have any idea how much a dealership or tire shop will charge to do all (4) and reset the pressure so the DIC doesn't show any errors or warnings?

Thanks!

Below are the original equipment sensors installed at the factory. They were used from 2005 through 2009. I purchased my sensors from the online supplier below and had a tire shop install them on the wheels that I took off and brought to them myself. I chose to do it that way since I was able to thoroughly clean my wheels in the process since that is something the tire shop wouldn't normally do. If you were to purchase the sensors from a GM dealer you would be getting the exact same ones only packaged in an AC Box and would pay a lot more for them. The safest bet and least problematic is to go with the OEM sensors. Also be careful with sourcing since I've read of people buying brand new ones that are up to 10 years old and since the normal battery life is up to 10 years you would be off to a bad start with 10 year old ones. There is a month and year date of manufacture code molded into the plastic. The tire shop that I used charged me $80 or $20 per wheel to replace the sensors and re-balance the wheels. The ones I purchased from the supplier below were 1 year from date of manufacture. Good luck.

Default Tpms

I bought new sensors and had them installed when I replaced my tires at Costco of all places. The sensors were $43.99 each. They installed and programmed them no problem. Already had the sensors in stock. The paperwork says Sensor 7001 - REDI. I took a picture of the box before they installed them. They say dillvalves.com on the box and 7001-HP. They have been working great for about a month now. I also bought a Traeger. Very expensive shopping trip, but delicious!

forgot to mention I have a 2005 also.

it was for my mustang and not corvette but discount tire charged me 250 for the sensors and installation. I would shop around and see if you can find a place to give you a deal on labor if you buy the sensors through them. I want to say my sensors were around 50 each and 10/ per tire for installation.

I think that's about what I paid at America's when I bought a set of take-offs that didn't have TMPS.

Going on 6 years and 90k now.

I have 05, and my front left tire sensor went bad, and I also replaced just one, and two months later a rear started giving false reading. That did it, replaced the three remaining sensors cause they are going to give me trouble down the road.

They don't last forever the batteries are going, might has well replace all four, and be done with it.

There telling you something, REPLACE!

I've only got one suggestion. "IF" you care about how they look on your wheels.....be sure you get a look at one of the new ones before having them installed. I had to have one replace and didn't even think about asking what the new one is gonna look like and it was a simpler black one that didn't match my wheels (or the other sensors) at all. You would have thought (maybe anyway) that a competent shop would have thought about this to and would ask the owner if the part is what they want.....but NOOOOOOO......LOL. My mistake. Good luck.

Lets stop right here, and unless you have a wide fenders on the car, the OEM z06 rim off sets will end up with the tires sticking past the lips of the fender walls. Hence one bump to drive the tire in to the fenders, will result in the fenders destroyed. So if you have narrow body fenders, the guessing Z06 style rims, with narrow fender off sets to keep the tires inside the fender lips.

If you have this, then your going to destroy fenders,

As for TPMS, get the OEM sensors and have them installed.

As for the sensor, tire shop can break the bed on at the TPMS sensors, replace them, and pressure the tires back up to reseal the beads.
From here, tire shop just puts the car into TPMS relearn mode, and triggers the sensor to program then back in the car in the correct order.
