Greetings.
My previous post regarding the ACS C6 hood vent was well responded to and I thank all who did so.
As I now have the GM oem Camaro hood vent I am looking for the cut out template so I can cut correctly the first time. ACS the manufacturer of the drip tray used the oem hood vent and supplied a cut out template for a stock C6 hood and they no longer sell this kit.
If any forum member has one they would like to lend out I would send it back as soon as I cut the opening.

Thanks, Steve

When I did mine I simply turned the Camaro vent upside down, traced in on white paper and subtracted 1/2" redrawing a parallel line to the trace line. Cut that out and you'll have a perfect template....almost as fast as I can type this response.

I did pretty much the same thing, but keep in mind that you will have more room on the top of vent, the area of vent closest to the windshield. After you make the first template, trace it on cardboard and test your fit. When you flip it upside down you will see what I mean, make a second template to adjust for it. When all said and done, final template is better made with poster board, it's thinner and cuts straighter then cardboard, yet thicker then paper, tracing lines on hood will be cleaner and straighter also. I achieved a nice tight fit with really straight lines, there was very little sanding involved to clean hood line cut. IMO

I'm presuming the stepped retainers are fabricated and did not come with the oem vent?

It doesn't come with the stepped retainers. I made mine using aluminum at local hardware store. I used a grinder to round the edges and 3M tape as a cushion/buffer between retainers and underside of hood and painted hardware. I thought it cleaned it up a bit. I also advise using nylon nuts so they don't vibrate loose. After cutting hood I rounded the cut edges a slight bit. It will smooth out any paint splinters and rough edges. It may not be necessary, but adds a nice finishing touch.
