Glass is broken out and missing on my passenger door. Housing isn't damaged. Got a replacement assembly on the way. Was reading a DIY on here on how to replace it. Confused on the reason you have to remove the door panel and unbolt the mirror from the door.
Final step is to replace the glass portion of the mirror using a suction cup and then reverse the steps for the install.
Question #2 is how do I remove the new mirror from it's housing so I can install it in my existing housing.

I found this video made by one of our forum members helpful when I replaced my drivers side rear view mirror. I had to replace the mirror glass on our heated and auto dimming driver side mirror since the auto dimming portion had failed leaving the mirror glass with a mottled and stained appearance.
