Well, none of those "What ifs" fit with GMs past or known present marketing plans or realities for the vette. None of them really make any sense. What if a big freakin rock from space lands on earth and turns us all to paste? It's probably not going to happen, so.....why bother caring?
What If the C-6 is for the New Generation and not the previous corvette owners?
A: I go by the benchmarks of 1963, 1968, and to a lesser extent, 1984. Each was a revolution, in varying degrees, that abandoned cetain aspects of what Corvette used to be, to boldly charge into the future.
What If the C-6 is something totally new with out any shred of past vette?
A: The 1963. It was a RADICAL departure from the 1962 -- "available as a coupe? That's not corvette!".
What if the C-6 is has been beat with the ugly stick?
A: I don't think it's likely, but remember how taken aback people were with the 84 and 97. Strange-looking at first, but with time, they were easily recognizable a Corvettes, and beautiful corvettes, at that.
What If GM is sick of the corvette and would like to kill it off due to poor sales when the C-6 comes out.
A: POOR SALES???? Hasn't the C5 been the best-selling Corvette ever?
What If , the corvette is replaced, with something else.
A: Not happening any time soon. :)
I don’t think it will happen but what If?   :boxing
What if? GM will suffer terribly if this kind of thing happened. And, I'd argue, after the CEO was fired and replaced, the Corvette would be back in a couple of years.
An interesting thought... GM has been known to do some odd things, from time to time, in effort to attract new market share. Fiero, Allante' and Reatta spring to mind.
After Reatta, who would think Buick would be too interested in another "sports car?" Well:
Seems to me that there have been times when ideas like that circulated around the halls of GM. But the tremendous success of the C5 (though I am still a C4 fan, I won;t deny the obvious), in transforming the Corvette
"not just from being America's sports car, but also a respectable car in it;s own right"
I think insures the future for the Vette.
But i do see in my imagination heated battles between those who want to take the success of the C5 and make a "universal car", and those who would rather take the Corvette back to it's roots (relatively).
Either way, the car is very successful, and too important. The future looks good, but some of us are bound to like it less because it pays too little homage to the past, and some because it pays too much homage to the past.

Huh? What do you mean its not going to happen? I just ran up $250K of credit and now they say its not going to happen? They just talked about this on the radion a couple of months ago! Damn it!!!
