Default Column lock

My car won’t start and it reads: service column lock. It seems it would cost a lot of money to fix and not even sure that will get it going. It was perfect until now. I see a lot recommendations for a bypass as a better option. Is it effective?

Did you install the bypass yourself?

Yes,pretty simple. I did it before I had any trouble. As a preventive measure.

You should get the bypass that is sold on ebay by KFN01.

FYI The steering column has to be unlocked before the column lock eliminator can be installed. Also if you have the"service steering column lock" message and you plug the eliminator in and the message still wont clear then you will probably need to repl. the column lock control module which is the black box that the eliminator plugs into. I had to repl. the control module on mine with the eliminator and its been 2 years no issues

Posted this AM, copy TSB# & take it to a competent dealer.
Supposedly GM will pay for this repair, ending this fiasco forever.
