Default Help needed following an accident

So I could really do with some help/advice here.

UK based car, I was on a narrow road, horsebox coming towards me so I pulled off on to the verge and had my wheels pointing out ready to carry on, Horse box didn't even slow down or realise she was driving anything oversize and took my wheel out, all the suspension on the passenger front and the wheel as it came off ripped my wing.

The Insurance company want to either write it off or give me a payment in lieu so I have agreed to the payment in Lieu, reason being I don't trust any of the approved garages, not one of them even knows what the car is and they just see 11 year old car, scrap it. Trying to explain it is an American Ferrari gets me nowhere

So my mechanic is more than capable of fixing this, but getting the parts in the UK is a nightmare, and to save cost I am very tempted by good second hand parts.

The two things I want help on, are firstly, does anybody have a link to a diagram with 2006/7 C6 Z51 option front suspension components, preferably exploded.

Secondly can anybody recommend a local business that would maybe help purchase or take delivery of all these parts and ship them over to me in one go, obviously for a fee?

Wheels are easy to get, but suspension parts pretty tough over here. It might even be an opportunity to move to coilovers, although I really don't want to make the suspension firmer with the awful state of our roads.

So also any recommendations on changes or upgrades to make at the same time that might not change cost a lot buying pattern or 3rd party suspension offerings would be very helpful too,

Thanks and everything crossed, I really want this car back on the road.

Might know of a business which would take delivery of parts for shipment to you, and may even be help in finding what you need. They would need a detailed list of the parts you need of course and some form of up-front payment or direct payment by you to the vendor that they would find. The business is a Corvette repair shop; they only work on Corvettes. They do everything except paint and/or body work. Very reputable shop located in Sumter, South Carolina.

That might be perfect, I'm trying to get together a list right now. Really appreciate your input. Once I've got my list I'll get back to you if that's OK? Buying everything one at a time from ebay or whatever and getting it shipped will take forever and cost an absolute fortune.

I would think any of the US based used parts vendors would be willing to ship whatever you wanted. I'm not sure what shipping method you were looking to use, but UPS and USPS are pretty expensive as the box gets bigger and the box gets heavier. That may not be a concern, and if not, PM me and I'll get you some info for a local knowledgeable corvette recycler.

i would venture to say that you would be able to source everything on ebay. There are also a couple large venders on here that also have their listings on ebay to source from.

AEScorvette parts
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...9k-aa6373.html--------this isnt the model you have, but explore their website and you may find what you need

LEECparts----i just spent 1500 with this vendor and i am very happe with everything that ive recieved (interior pieces, carbon bezel, seats, door panels, console and trim pieces)
https://www.ebay.com/str/leecparts

good luck , let us know if you need anything else

Checked with the business I mentioned earlier; they have a whole C6 front cradle minus the steering rack. They would be very willing to help you with your project. Have even shipped overseas many times as they have very reputable business credentials world-wide in the corvette world.

That sounds really good. They would probably also know all the parts involved?

As soon as I get my list and the confirmation from the insurance co. Both hopefully today, I'll get things moving.

Some really good help on here already thanks so far to everybody!

So talking to my mechanic, we don't need that whole front end, but hopefully they can have other individual parts if they break/repair. What we actually need is everything in these pictures, plus a passenger wing and wheel plus the engine undertray as that all got scraped off. Even the highly breakable radiator support cage, that I only had welded a few weeks ago is completely fine.

Take a look around the Cultrag website. He has a very detailed parts list with exploded diagrams for reference. Long time forum sponsor who specializes in GM parts.

That doesn't look like a whole lot is damaged. No big deal. UPS a box full of stuff and you're back in business. Body work is where all the money is going to come in.

Did they check the steering rack for damage?

I bet that ripped the wheel out of your hands.

Not at all, other than the media loving all the drama, but most of central Europe charges an absolute fortune for Corvette parts, more expensive than equivalent Ferrari parts, crazy, but worth a look thanks.
