Worth exploring a trade for a c6 z06 from c5 z06?
Looking for some advice and insight from the group. I got the Corvette bug last year when I got my first Vette, a 2002 c5 z06. It is an amazing car. With only 14k miles it is a cream puff. I’ve taken it to a few shows and it has gotten a lot of compliments. Part of me wonders if I should have gotten a c6 z06 and bit the bullet with the higher price. I grew up w the c5 when I was younger and had an affinity for it at the time but the allure of the 7.0 is there.
I can’t afford to spend much and saw a while ago someone wanted to trade from a c6 z06 to a c5. I can understand that has to be rare. My question is whether anyone really would be open to a trade now for my car or if I should hold on to it.

I agree that the C6 is an overall better car especially the interior. With that said I would either sell your car and save for the difference if you really want to upgrade. But would not expect to get much interest in a straight trade from a C5Z to a C6Z

I'm going to be blunt. Your car is nice, but even the worst c6z is worth a lot more than it.. Someone trying to trade straight up is trying to scam you.
If you really want a c6z, sell your car and buy a c6z. A c6z is in another realm performance wise, but its also in another realm cost wise. Tires. Brakes, valve issues, etc. are going to make it a much more expensive car to own.

With the money I have seen asked and paid for low mileage c5z, I would think you could show yours outright and add a little bit and buy a c6z. I can't imagine too many guys wanting to trade back, I would think that's rare. You might find somebody who was snake bit with engine issues and wants to get out of theirs, but then do you really want to get into it.
I even made a thread in OT joking about the ridiculous asking price I saw for a c5z about a month ago. The car was nice but, high 20s? Well damned if it didn't sell. So I guess I'm out of touch with the market for them. I can tell you if I had one I'd be getting out while the gettin's good. Ymmv

Sit on it for the coming year, I think the bottom for these years is here, see what value you have in 12 months. The C6 is still trending down, see what happens to the values for the years you want. Me thinks the values of C5s will advance now that the C8 is likely delayed for a year to design a new electrical system and GM is in reorganization

A C6 ZO6 is well worth the trade up, a 100hp increase & a more comfortable interior for starters

Keep the C5Z. It sounds like money is an issue for you and the C5Z is AWESOME! I had 2, 2002 Z06's in the past and they are much eaiser to maintain and cost much less to own. The C6Z is more of a car, and should be for the cost, but you have a clean low mileage C5Z that will keep it's value for now on. If money was not a big deal, the C6Z is a big step up, looks, power, feel and nasty fast! I have had 12 vette's, including a C7 Stingray. The C6Z is my favorite vette hands down, but the C5z's were fun and still raw yet very eaisy to drive and own.

Thanks for the insight guys. I appreciate it. Even if I got 28 for it ( I did get new valve springs for security so that should help value) I’d still would be short a few grand for a c6 z06. Anyone is free to make an offer :p but in all seriousness I’ll see how the next few months go. I like the raw feeling of the c5 z06 but would like the horsepower bump and other upgrades. I came from an 00 trans am ws6 to the c5 z06 and that felt like a huge step up. I can only imagine how a c6 z06 would feel.
