Column lock?

Column lock?
2005 C6 (Z51) with 130k.
A couple times in the last few weeks I got a "service column lock" when attempting to start the vehicle. Upon pushing the start switch to accessory and back to start, car started.
So today I go to start and car doesn't start. No message in DIC. Tried going back and forth between acc and start. Tried going back into reverse several times. No go.
Removed positive battery cable and reinstalled. Then I get "service column lock", but car started. But my radio is stuck on "Initializing CD". None of the radio buttons do anything. 6CD deck btw.
Thoughts?
