Merry Christmas All,

I recently purchased an 06 Z51 and I'm currently working through some maintenance items.

Here is my situation, the air filters are the original OEM. They look a little dirty and I would like to repalce them. Which of the followig should I do?

1. Install two K&N Air filters
2. Install and Airaid CAI

The car is stock and probably will be for some time,

Thanks in advance,
Mike

You're going to get next to no increase in performance from either of those two options so I would just replace with OEM filters.

Keep in mind the subject of your org. post....."Opinions Needed". So expect every post to be just that....the individuals responding opinion. The fact of whether a CAI helps or not is one of those subjects that get hashed over in this forum just like tires and waxes. My personal opinion seems to suggest that they probably help a little, but probably not enough to get any kick-in-the-pants response like some people think. But then of course thats just my 2-cent opinion. Either way.....good luck in sifting through the "Opinions".....

An AIRRAID will give you a bit of power. But without a tune and opening up the exhaust you won't get much and for the cost isn't worth, IMHO of course.

I would think about a k&n due to the fact that they're washable. If you plan to drive it a lot, that could be beneficial.

I think on a mostly stock car, an intake is an appearance mod. Unless you make more than 630hp like a zr1, you wont need a new intake.

I'd put the Airaid on now if you are considering any mods down the road. It won't hurt anything. But as stated above, don't expect any performance gains now. Might sound faster though haha.
