I will be getting my long tubes and mid-pipes coated later this month. Mainly for the heat but I also hate the discoloring of stainless. Quoted ~300 for standard color ceramic. My guess is it will be around 350 all in.
Friday I got a quote just to get my mid-pipes ceramic coated for $250. Seemed high. Since they are busy he said it would take 8-9 days.

Is it possible to wrap the starter on a 2007 C6 without dropping the header on that side of the vehicle? Thanks.
^^This^^
I tried today and it's near impossible (for me anyways) to get the wrap around the starter. I read in another post on the forum that a member used the insulated wrap on the header near the starter rather than the starter itself. is that an option? it wouldn't be a tight wrap, but the shielded blanket around the pipe. I just put headers on mine this winter and haven't had a chance to drive it. just ran in garage for 30 min. a few times. Unfortunately, I've already taken the car off the jack stands and do not want to take the header off AGAIN.
I won't put a set of headers on any of my cars without some sort of heat shielding/wrap/ceramic coating. It is mainly to protect the underhood wiring and plastics in the long run. I had a C5 Z06 I had installed a set of Texas Speed uncoated headers on. Fit was good and the headers were quite nice but I could never get the x-pipe to be adjusted just right. I eventually replaced those headers with a set of coated American Racing headers. When I pulled off the uncoated headers, several of the wires going to the starter were very brittle from the heat and that was only after a few thousand miles. Lesson learned.
Now in regards to ceramic coating. Something most people never talk about is the quality of the ceramic coating. Lots of places will ceramic coat headers but the coating ends up being a paint that has some ceramic in it which won't do much for heat. You need a top end ceramic coating like Jet Hot or Swain Tech. I think that Swain Tech is the best.
I agree with Not So Fast (NSF) i also did the Z-Cool tunnel insulation when i did my header install. Its the best mod/upgrade you can do on a C6. I got mine last month from Fred at Specialty Automotive Materials for 90 bucks shipped. Great price, great product, great guy/company

One thing that we recommend ALL headers customers buy is our Tunnel Plate w/ Thermal Shielding. This will eliminate chassis flex and alot of the heat through your center console.
i put coated kooks headers with the bare stainless x pipe with cats on my '10 and i noticed less heat than the factory exhaust. i did not wrap anything.
