10K on the 2007 Z51, 3LT Coupe. Tires look great however I am questioning how they will hold up at higher speeds. Came with OEM Good Years, change to what is the question???
Michelin, the Pilot SuperSport has been my choice for several years, the Pilot 4s is the newest offering, great tires that last. The ride without runflats is much better. AAA can be your friend if you're concerned about getting a flat. I have a gold card, I own my own auto repair shop, too. Thankfully never had to use it on a road trip, but I'm prepared to just in case.
are you saying that the goodyears are the original tires?
if so, then I'd say it's time to replace them. I had two almost brand new bridgestone tires that, I had a hard time getting rid off.
tire shop would not install them as, they were about 7 years old.
with the need for high performance tires, now is not the time to be questioning what you have.
pony up and start with a new set of treads!
I've had good luck with the stock Michelins (super sport, run flats ). some people do not like the harsh ride, but they have great traction
and ok tread wear ( 30k - 35k miles ).
goodyear may be ok with that, but try having them installed. see what the tire shop says.
there will always some guys who do not mind or, care about such things. but any reputable shop
will question it when they see the date codes.
I can see if the car gets driven somewhat consistently, but if it sits for any time, ozone will do its thing on the tires ( or anything rubber ).
again, with the HP these cars have, why would you want to take a chance with old tires?
the older they get, the harder they get, and are more prone to dry rot ( even small stages ).
get new tires, and you get soft, compliant contact patches ( i.e. better handling ).
I replaced my original Goodyear run flats that came on my 2010 last year. The tires had 4,500 miles on them, but I personally don't trust 8 year old tires, regardless of the mileage
with the mileage I drive, my tires won't get past 2 years. I put 46k miles on mine since my purchase (01/07/17).
that is mainly just weekend driving too. I replace these about a year or so ago and, will probably be replacing them later this year.
if i ever have to replace to tires due to old age, then i might have to think about selling the car.
until then, saddle up & ride!
I just called GOODYEAR about this yesterday. The guy said we will sell you all the tires you want but if they aren't dry rotted or cracked they are fine, keep running them. Mine are 2012 with 8000 miles on them.
Just tellin ya what the guy at goodyear headquarters told me.
As long as they stop well on a cold rainy day he is correct. But often at that age they begin to lose a lot of traction

They can't see inside the tire though without taking them off, that is where dry rot happens since it is dry inside the tire.
I ran with non run flats before for a long time and nothing happened. I did decide to go with run flat Mich PIlots A/S 3+ tires though when I bought my 13, mostly because my son and I take trips all year, even around -8F this year. A/S 3+ tires are better than the MIchelin Super Sports I had on it before (non runflat) even in the summer. I may buy another set of rims and put the new MIchelin summer tire on it though because I heard it is so much better than other Michelin summer tires.

Thanks Tom, I am in fact a AAA member... Good thought.
Thanks Tom, Good thought.... I am also a AAA member. I was trying to keep the car original , but at what safety cost. Low mileage but old rubber at high speeds doesn't make sense...
Most all agree that Michelin is the way to go.
Yelp, they are the original rubber that came on the car. I was trying to keep the car original, but at what safety cost is that really smart. Everyone seems to agree that Michelins are the way to go
8 year old doesn't seem to bad only because I am riding around on 12 year old tires... I guess it's time to loose a small part of an all original by upgrading to safety. Thanks...

They are on his vette......No need to install them?
I replaced my original Good Years on my 2007 convert about 2 years ago with Continentals and could not be happier. They are so much quieter, have great traction and track down the freeway straight as an arrow. They are not run flats but I bought the digital tire pump and sealer that I carry in the car just in case but have not used them except for the topping off of tire pressure.
If you don't "track" the car, then the Firestone Indy 500s are the best value and looking for the money. I have had five sets of these and they have rave reviews anywhere you go to purchase them Plus .. they ride better. They are NOT RFs tho and are "Ultra-high Performance summer tires" ! https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes
