Default Anyone running chrome ZR1 wheels?

Contemplating changing out my chrome Grand Sport rims for chrome ZRI's as I've always liked the look - especially on the 60th Anniversary Editions.

Can you post up pics if you have done this.

Thanks in advance.

This will come across as a smart *** but I really don’t mean it that way. But you say in your post, that you liked the look, especially on the anniversary GS. Have you seen these in person or pictures?

I think it it would look good, but probably expensive to buy the OEM wheels and new tires. Look in the for sale section for a used set.

best of luck to you.

mine is a 427 Convertible, but not the Anniversary white color and stripe package...…………….. have chrome ZR1 wheels and the only downside to them in my opinion is the time it takes to clean them due to the number of spokes

I am sure if you looked in the "427 Convertible Collector Registry" topic at the top of the C6 General page there should be some pictures of the white and blue packaged cars there to see them on.

A good source for them would be Keith at www.floridaspeedshop.com (forum vendor) aka DocZ@1stRateCorvette

Mine is a 427 convertible to, and also not white. I think you're forgetting about how easy they are to bend, just like the C7 wheel problem. Mine are also OEM optional wheels that came on the car.

I have the 60th Anniversary edition, chrome started to fail so I had the wheels recently powder coated. Here are some before and after I really liked the chrome just too expensive to have them rechromed and I am really pleased on how it looks now.

Thanks for the pics. I'm assuming you have the OEM GM wheels and really surprised to hear that the chrome started to fail.
This is my concern as I started looking at the replica ZR1 wheels that would enable me to re-use my current rubber. The description for the replicas does state that they are triple chromed.

Also, I have been scanning the forum and web for OEM ZR1 wheels (would require new rubber) but have not seen much out there as I would only by used if they were driving distance away so I could first hand inspect.

Thanks and yes.
I have seen a 60th Anniversary Edition ZR1 and that is how I first got the "bug". I would like to go OEM (hard to find used) but may go replica's but concerned regarding their quality.

Yes they are the oem wheels that came on the car. They had a halo effect copper ring around the center cap where you could see the copper coming through the chrome. Not a big deal to some but it drove me crazy every time I washed the car. After speaking to some people they stated it was very common for the chrome to fail after 5 years on the oem wheels.

Thanks. My current chrome Grand Sport wheels show no sign of this and they are now 6 years old.
Mine is a low mileage car (bought it in June 2018 w/5700 miles) so not sure if that makes a difference on how the chrome holds up.

I don't have any pics of the chromes but what I do know is that it will look good. Go with the OEM 19"/20" setup. Don't settle for aftermarkets. Be patient and you'll find a deal on a set. They pop up frequently.

I LOVE the new look!! I wanted that color (brake dust..hahaha) when I was looking for Z06 replicas for my base c6, but the only options in those wheels were flat and gloss black, so instead of have new wheels powder coated, I went with the chrome and decided if I had trouble with the chrome down the road I could make the change then.

There's a set available in the C6 Parts section as we speak. Practically brand new.

Thanks - I did see them but they are in Houston.
I know I'm handicapping myself but any used wheels I buy - I need to see first hand - meaning they have to be in FL for me.
Also, it enables me to pick them up and pay cash.

Car built December 2012 with factory ZR1 wheels. Chrome is perfect to this day. Would do these again.
