Hi Rocket Riders !!!
I noticed the rubber portion of the windshield wipers on my 2013 427 vert needed replacement. Stopped by my local Advanced auto parts store and picked up a set of 21 inch replacements per their computer. When I tried to install them I noticed that there is a difference between the stock drivers side and the passenger side wiper blades. Most dominant difference is the support arm that runs parallel to the blade on the drivers side wiper. The replacement parts section of the owners manual a has two part numbers 12335960 for the Driver side and 1235961 for the passenger side ., I also noticed the passenger side wiper does not lift off perpendicular to the windshield like the Drivers side does .
I need help from the vast Corvette knowledge base with the following, (1) am I wasting time with Advance Auto parts replacements (2) is there a special purpose for the support bar that is installed parallel to the drivers side blade and (3) is there a trick to lifting the passenger side wiper parallel to the windshield ?
I bought the Bosch Icon replacements at my local Advance Auto based on recommendations from various forum members. They fit great, work great, and look great. No complaints whatsoever and they have a silicone blade. The driver side doesn’t flip up like the passenger side but I was able to replace them just picking the arm up a few inches.
Thanks GS Flyer I will go to the dealership any trick to replacing the passengerside as it doesn't lift off the windshield ?
You should be able to slide it out just by lifting the arm a inch or two. ( as far as it will lift) It is designed to be replaced that way, slides out differently than the driver side because of the reduced space. Like you i had few minutes of head scratching moments but look closely you will figure it out. Once you do it it is easy.

I picked up the same ones at my local AutoZone and agree, they are the same size as the OEM, fit great and, IMO, work better then the OEM, no streaks whatsoever

I used the bosch icon, and could not figure how to get passenger side off. First, i read i need 21a and 21b. Bad info. They take the same blade, and tho you cant lift up the pass side, I found they both come off exactly the same way. Havent used in rain yet but they look very good.
Well absolutely it matters. Sometimes it's nice to know why GM does some of the "Interesting" things that they do. It could be nice to know that there is actually some constructive reason for such a blunder......
As has been indicated the design is as you see. The drivers side arm will bend at the hinge. The passenger side not. If you look at the action of the wiper and their place on the windshield the stroke of the wipers is from the center towards the drivers side.
With that in mind, putting a hinge on the drivers side gives the owner an easier method for changing the wiper which when off, is resting in the center of the windshield. The passenger side does not need such an advantage as when it is at rest it is positioned closer to the side of the car at the base of the passenger side. Meaning, you can access the blade to change it fairly easily from the passenger side but if you have to change the drivers side blade you will need to lay across the hood to reach it. The bend lets you put it up in to a position to do this a little bit easier.
Yea....i've read that one before. But thats still a flip-flop. It's not just about ease of changing blades. It's easier to clean the glass....etc....etc. Why couldn't they just make that darn thing right !!!!......
