Here is Des Moines Iowa we hit -20 with -40 wind chills. Surpassed 1965's record low of minus 17 degrees and only 10 degrees shy of the all-time coldest day on record in Des Moines, which was minus 30 on Jan. 5, 1884.

Parrish FL. 60 degrees headed to the mid 40’s tonight. I understand that compared to other parts of the country this is not cold, but, it is cold to me.

Welp it's a balmy -14 wind chill -33 here in Grayslake IL expected to hit -27 by sunrise O boy, it was -20 this morning when I went to work at O dark thirty the truck moaned groaned and almost said screw it, but just as I was about to shut her down she calmed down and off we went. For those who are curious it's a 04 hummer H2 with 239,000 miles and counting it's only been recently that she started acting up I think she's just mad she got the boot out of the garage when the vette came home so now she out in the cold.

-1.4 a minute ago. Not cold here yet. What was in Chicago should be headed this way tomorrow. Lows now supposed to be -8 tomorrow morning. Cold tomorrow and then warming Saturday to 30s. A few days of inconvenience, no big deal.

Hmm, "central Pa." My dad was from Johnsonburg in Elk County. Know where that is?

FWIW: It's -8 right now outside, but +80 in the kitchen and 73 in the living room -- thanks to Pennsylvania anthracite!

No, never heard of Johnsonburg. Had to google that one. Not much up there. I used to live in Mansfield many years ago. A ways east of there out rt 6.

I'm spending my second winter in this house. My first with natural gas heat. Boy is this different. 62 feels like what used to be 70 when I heated with oil. Good thing too because with the poor duct design, it's a challenge to get the bedroom much above that.

In all seriousness, I'm amazed at how much lower the temps are and still comfortable. I've even gone around shooting an IR thermometer cause I can't believe it. Most folks who come in think it's 70. I'm used to cold at work, so it doesn't need to be 72 in here. But no way would I have believed I would ever be comfortable in this. Must be the humidifier on the air-handler. I can't figure it.

If you have a humidifier now and didn't before, yes that can make a difference.

If you think Johnsonburg is in the sticks, my sister is married to a guy who grew up in Picture Rocks, PA.

This time of the year it's climate change! Global warming takes place during the summer when it actually gets warm!

Eh, woke up to -9° and frozen cold water; hot is okay. Haven't had frozen pipes in several years, and it's been colder than -9° in recent years. Still haven't found the spot, because it froze where it never did before.

Climate is weather over time. We're actively witnessing the symptoms predicted more than 20 years ago. Record highs, record lows, record storms, record flooding, record rain, record wildfires due to drought, rising sea levels, spring water reserves depleting, etc.

I mean, you can keep pushing some false narrative or you could do some research yourself and wake up. Shell is dealing with legal issues now because documents from the 1980s have surfaced implicating them in coverup of the "Carbon problem". Exxon is also in hot water because of internal documents surfaced from 2015. These documents disclosed that the oil company understood the science of global warming, predicted its catastrophic consequences, and then spent millions to promote misinformation.

You should watch (or read) Merchants of Doubt. Open your eyes.

Same Science as the Ozone hole .. woops that's gone...

We need to pump cold water into the center of the earth - so the heat does not radiate outward... lets start drilling holes and pumping water, hey it will also lower the rising water levels... Works for me.

Do the math on the shift of the earths spinning axis and watch what happens. I guess the shift was from too many people lining on one side of the planet, time to move...

When I was a kid they called it the POLAR EXPRESS.. and weather....
