Default Ls9 cam installation and valve guide questions.

Well I had a very long paragraph typed out about a friend of mine installing a cam on an ls9 but it got deleted. Ok, this gentleman is new to the ZR1 world. When he told me he was installing a cam without removing the heads it freak me out, so I mentioned the allegations about the heads on the ls9 possibly having the same issue as the LS7! This friend was very unaware about the ls9's allegedly having a problem. Now don't get me wrong this gentleman was unaware who katech is which there is nothing wrong with that, him being new to the ZR1 world and all. I am not trying to disrespect this man at all. As stated I feel kinda bad for telling him about the ls9 issue but him being the acquaintance and friend he is I think he should know. This could save him some money and possibly stop a ls9 from imploding down the road! I need some help from you guys to help me enlighten my friend because he is doing a wiggle test on his heads and this concerns me. The wiggle test doesn't really tell or is not adequate enough to tell you whether you have a guide issue or not. The LS9 is built off the LS3 design and it is basically builit proof. I am also a LS9 owner as of late. The LS7 cost me a small fortune and just before I traded it I didn't like the sounds coming from valve train. I was always scared of dropping! The LS9 has a completely different sound! Ok guys speak up and share. You ZR1 owner's we want to know your thoughts and how you feel!! I am attempting to find out if there is any merit to the allegations that the LS9 has the same problem as the LS7, anyone?!!!

Yes, LS9's have the valve issue.

Yes, you can do a cam while the heads are on.

Default Guide issue

Yes genius, I know you can put a cam in without removing the heads. My question is do you ZR1 owner's think the LS9 has the same problem as the LS7 and if you do tell me how youveycome to that conclusion?

you may be able to use the factory LS2 heavy duty chain damper in place of the flimsy chain tensioner that fails with pieces ending up in the engine
