CD player won't reconize disk.
My 08 Nav/CD player has got to where i have to insert the CD in and out of the player about six times before it will recognize and play a CD.. Anyone have any idea what this is all about? Any simple solutions?

Your lens is likely dusty, try a CD cleaner disc. If you get lucky that will work. You can also try spraying compressed air into the slot but be cautious with Tay

I would have suggested the same as this. However, does your CD player do this to all CD's? If not, chexk your CD that is not being read. It could be scratched beyond readable possibilities or a burnt CD (CD-R/CD-RW) that is just hard to detect.

No, i wish it were that simple, it started out about a year ago, you would have to take the cd out and put it back in and eventually it would play. All the disk are clean, doesn't seem to have any particular one. Now it's like four or five cycles and sometimes i just write it off and listen to the engine. . i'll try the cleaner disk and hope for the best. Thanks for the interest and the suggestion, i'm open to anything at the moment.

2008...best will be to remove the unit and clean the lens.
(Do a search, getting to the Nav lens is more difficult and involved than getting only to the music lens - which I think is fairly easy.)
That's just necessary maintenance after so many years.
Easy? as above:
1) CD Disc cleaner diskette @$10.
2) Can of compressed air $5.
3) Leaf blowers and home vacuum - make a funnel for "sucking" & blowing" the CD drive insert slot.
4) Soft headed hammer...shake/shock the case of the entire radio/ nav unit.
But...it is a symptom, time to remove the unit and give it a cleaning.
Good luck.

The CD lens is super easy to get to if you remove the unit from the dash. The top cover of the Nav unit can be removed to access the top of the CD player. The laser lens track can be manually moved to a position that the lens can be cleaned with alcohol or other cleaner.
Here is a pic of the top of the CD player in a Nav unit.
Pic 1 shows the top of the CD lens tracked in the parked position.
Here is pic 2 of the laser lens moved manually from the parked position to a place that it can be accessed for manual cleaning.
