Door window rattle
Last year the passenger door window on my '06 vert developed an intermittent rattle. When I lower the window a slight amount, the rattle stops. I couldn't figure out the cause of the problem and decided to take the car in for service. One dealership wanted me to sign a disclaimer that I wouldn't hold them liable if they had to remove the door panel and the noise got worse. The second dealership lubricated the weatherstripping around the window, and the rattle stopped.
The rattle has come back in less than three months. When I started the car yesterday, there was a sound coming from the door that sounded like two pieces of styrofoam rubbing together. When I started driving, the window rattled. When I lowered the window slightly, the rattle stopped. How can I determine whether the weatherstripping is bad, or something about having the window raised to the top creates the problem, and well-lubricated weatherstripping masks the problem for a while?
The sound that you described seems like the glass rubbing against dry weather stripping like you indicated. The glass can be adjusted some what by removing the door panel and the plastic membrane that covers the access cavity access. I would take it to a good auto glass shop and describe the symptom. They may be able to make an adjustment to solve your problem and or replace the weatherstrip as needed.
Its an 06, I would imagine the rubber is dried out and doesnt snug seal anymore. You could replace the weatherstrip around the door and that will more than likely solve your issue. Because from the sounds of it, its not sealing once its all the way up. Do you have any leaking issues in rain or after you wash your car?

I don't see any leaking. I seem to remember reading years ago on Corvette Forum that when the window is all the way up, it pulls the door panel in tight. If there are broken pins inside the door panel, they may create problems that aren't apparent when the window is down and the door panel is not drawn in tight.

Only one way to find out. Pop that door panel off and check it out.
