I also have 1 3/4 headers on car and some say to small.
Super charger are expensive and a lot of new cars
now come with 600 plus HP .So do I put 9 k in to a base 08 or go by a zl1 Camro or older z06

How many miles on your car? How do you use it? How long do you plan on keeping it? Are you otherwise happy with it or do you feel the need to constantly mod?

I was\am in the same boat you are. I just ordered my A&A supercharger, it will be installed next week when my tuner will be available to tune it. I don't have any payments on my 13 base so it was hard to spend more money to find a ZO6 or ZR1. A stock ZO6 only puts down 430ish RWHP so for 7K for parts and labor to have the a&a installed was an easier pill to swallow than looking for a ZO6, with the A&A i'll end up with about 530ish RWHP which is 100hp more than a stock zo6. I'll do a rear wide body kit on mine after the supercharger for another 2500 buck or so. I'll be under 10k and won't have any extra payments. The ZO6 is obviously the better platform to start with but that's not what i have nor was the wife to happy for me wanting to upgrade when i had a paid off toy already so....sometime you just gotta deal with what you got...including the wife...lol

I would not recommend a 5th Gen ZL1 unless you plan on modding it as well. With all the extra heft, you will only pick up a couple tenths 1/4 mile and 0-60 and take a massive step back in the handling dept. I had a '14 ZL1, completely stock, and it felt like a beast, but it wasn't much faster than the '10 GS I got rid of to get it. I currently own an '18 ZL1 vert and it is amazing! The 10 speed auto is leaps and bounds better than the A6 in the 5th gen and the A8 in the C7.(Disclaimer: If it wasn't my wife's car, I would still rather have a manual.) A 6th Gen ZL1 will blow the doors off a stock LS3 C6, but will carry a hefty price tag.
The LS7 is the most intoxicating motor I have ever driven, my 427 vert is completely stock and has more than enough power to make it a blast as a weekend driver. If I ever pull up next to a Hellcat though, it would not be pretty. Depending on the power you desire, I would think the stock LS7 might leave you wanting for more.
Bang for the buck, supercharging your car would be the way to go, but only if you plan on keeping it. Not going to help you at all when it comes to resale. Might also think about H/C/I and keeping it NA. Good luck!

I have a 2011 GS / A6 that I purchased new in 2011 ... Car has 19,000 miles on it now.
Bone stock ... it made 371 RWHP on the DynoJet
Then I added 1 3/4" headers with cats and a tune ... it then made 405 RWHP on the DynoJet
I now installed a Magnuson / Eaton 'Heartbeat' supercharger and a Kenne Bell BAP ... it now makes 535 RWHP
I could install a smaller supercharger drive pulley and increase the boost and HP, but I am satisfied where it's at now, and I would rather have longevity on all the parts.
BTW ... The A6 cars lose 15% HP through the drivetrain ... So, that 535 RWHP equates to 630 Net crankshaft HP (very close to what the stock C6 ZR1 makes)
Note: Had I known that I would later install a supercharger on my car, I would have opted for the larger 1 7/8" headers. I am sure I am giving up on the HP using the smaller diameter 1 3/4" primary pipe headers ... oh well
BTW ... I am done modding the engine on this car. I am not considering changing out the OEM camshaft.

Supercharger & widebody for your car- skip it
- Fun to work at and see the improvements, but potentially a hassle with parts, install, reliability, and the like
- Need supporting mods to handle the power - namely brakes and suspension, but perhaps cooling and and engine components too; not an expert on this stuff, though
- Complete deviation from factory spec - limits value and desirability on used car market; possibly too modded to be a future collector car
- Waste of time and money to upgrade an automatic Corvette... Sell it... sell it now!!
Grand Sport - a solid option
- Since you have a base now, the GS would be a great upgrade in terms of handling and aesthetics.
Z06 - my choice
- Naturally aspirated
- Modestly higher rev limiter (7,100 Z06; 6,500 base); a good amount more of the gears to enjoy!!
- Decent increase in power; no hassle with major mods --> factory reliability
- Aggressive aesthetics that match
- Badge pedigree (Important to some, meaningless to others)
- If kept stock or close to, then amazing resale and desirability potential - future collector car!

Well here’s my opinion,
Being the owner of a 2005 base Z51 M6 with 75k miles, I just had an A&A supercharger installed at A&A Corvette, and it kicks ***, power is more then I hoped for 525 RWHP. Here’s why I choose the install a supercharger on this car, in no perticular order.
1) Mustangs, Hellcats, Scatpacks, Camero’s, I bought a Corvette to be king of the road and any of these cars can take down a stock C6.
2) For the price it takes to add a supercharger, i’m still way below the entry price for any of the above mentioned cars. 2005 Corvette $15.5k, supercharger $7k new radiator to cool the beast another $800 bucks. And I have a supercharged Corvette.
3) ZO6 427 has the valve issues and need to be corrected before I would feel comfortable beating on one, plus I have smoked my buddy’s 2013 ZO6 more then once, it will pull it in any gear.
4) Is it money well spent, probably not, kills resale but it’s the only way I could afford hellcat power without starting world war 3 with the wife, no need to tell her I installed a supercharger.

I have a 2006 C6 with Z51 and M6 trans.
Also have a 2015 Mustang GT , A6 trans, with Paxton Supercharger. 625whp.
Driving both cars, the Mustang is a complete waste of power on public roads, by the time you are through one gear at full pedal, you need to back out. No space or appropriate roads to open her up all the way.
400hp in the C6 is enough to have some fun without being overkill for public roads. If I was drag stripping the car or doing half mile events, I could see the sense in having the big power, but in hindsight after having the supercharger on my Mustang for over 2 years now, I do regret the upgrade because I literally use 1% of the cars potential.

I guess that’s why Blu (2013 GS in SSB) is one helluva great ride!
I bought her in May 2016 with ~19k miles & have just under 30k now.
The previous owner did all the heavy lifting & installed the supercharger, methanol injection kit, American Racing Headers and an aftermarket exhaust.
She makes some serious HP at the rear wheel too
That being said, I’m on the hunt for a C3 (68-72) to park next to Blanche. Keeping my eyes open.
