Default dash lights

the dash lights used to come on when I open the door - where do I look to find out why they quit - they do come on once I hit the start button.

When the door is open, the inside lights that come on are the rear view mirror lights, and the underdash lights.
There is a fuse labeled CTSY/LAMP (Courtesy Lamp) in the passenger side footwell.
Is it possible that the brightness **** has been turned off.

As per the owner's manual:
Courtesy Lamps: When any door or the hatch/trunk lid is opened, the interior lamps will go on unless it is bright outside. You can also turn the courtesy lamps on and off by pressing the instrument panel brightness ****.
Instrument Panel Brightness: The **** for this feature is located on the lower left side of the instrument panel. Push the **** in to turn on the interior lights. Turn and hold the **** clockwise to brighten the lights or counterclockwise to dim them. During the day, this **** will adjust the instrument panel brightness and at night will adjust all interior lighting.
