'05 Convertible Top Won't Open
Hi Folks:
I bought an '05 Convertible last summer with a power top, and it has a problem when you first try to put the top down.
When you press the button to make it come down, nothing happens. If you push the top up by the front latch area by about 7-8 inches, it then activates and continues through its cycle and tucks away as it is supposed to. Goes up as normal.
What is wrong, that it won't start going down by itself? Is there a sensor ior a switch in the top that is out of adjustment, preventing it front starting to cycle down?
Its never been a big deal, but I do want to get it working correctly.
Thanks in a advance!
Rob

Similar problem last fall on my 2011. Top would go up a few inches then stop. Turned out to be a piston in the top. Dealer's shop, about $400. But when I tried it, the top would go down but not come back up properly. So dealer sends it to a different shop, and it's another $400. Ouch.

More than one (limit) switch on these tops, IIRC.
All it'd take is for one to be defective and/or loose -- out of alignment.
If [a] switch doesn't 'make' or 'break', for whatever reason, computer interprets next step (up) a no-go.
Unless one has docs & troubleshooting skills?
Might be something best left to an indy shop familiar w/ C6 roadster top operation.
Issue might be isolated in minutes by the right tech w/ experience of where circuit testing points are located & proper values to look for.
Worth the $, IMO.

Not sure you're experiencing anything unusual. My '06 Owner's Manual says: Release the convertible top front latch, located above the inside rearview mirror, by pulling and turning it clockwise toward the driver’s door. Push upward on the front edge.

You should also check that the pressure relief valve on the pump is tightened all the way.
Good luck with this PITA.

To put the top down(opening) you have to unlatch it, and as you push the button, push the top a few inches to start it. It's normal.
