Opened my trunk, went to close it and it won't larch. the electrical unit pulls it shut then lets it open again. Has anyone had this happen?"

Hmmm, no haven't had issues like that. Sounds odd. Do you hear it latch when it closes, before opening back up? Does it do that all the time and never stays closed or it it random? Maybe need to repalce batter in FOB because it thinks it is getting a signal to open it? I think my batteries need to be replaced as a couple times it didn't recognize it when starting and this morning it thought I had left the FOB in the car. Funny, the first time I realized it warned you of that surprised me and I didn't know what was going on.
I have had a few times, especially when it was cold, where it doesn't want to open up all the way and then when I try to get it open causes the alarm to get triggered. A couple times it hasn't wanted to close and I have to push it closed. Wonder if there is a replacement item or aftermarket that makes it open or close better?

I wonder if the trunk release switch above the license needs to be cleaned or is faulty?

Fixed it, thanks for the input. It turned out the plastic trim around the carpet had shifted enough to get int he way.
