Default rebuilt title

Ok , so im looking at a car from out of state , it was bought at auction with a salvage title , a guy bought it and repaired it so now it has a rebuilt title. So my question is will i have to get it reinspected here in mass to get it registered ? The rmv says if i have a salvage title i will have to get it inspected ,but says nothing about rebuilt titles . Anyone out there have any info ? thanks

As long as the title is branded as "rebuilt" I don't think you will have any issues. It will just have to be inspected for VIN # and mileage verification. My state doesn't check anything mechanically but yours may.

To put it bluntly my state sux ! Thats why so many people are leaving here and moving elsewhere ! Politicians voting themselves raises because of excess money in the coffers last year and now they have to raise taxes this year cause there isnt enough money in the coffers !!!! And now that people are leaving the state because of road conditions, traffic, and all of the state house non sense ,our pols want to put tolls everywhere to help pay the bills ! Sorry for the rant , But thanks for your help

In KY anytime you register a vehicle purchased from out of state it has to be inspected regardless of title, even if it is a brand new vehicle. Personally I wouldn't be interested in a vehicle with a "rebuilt" title unless I rebuilt it and planned to keep it forever. You can have issues getting financing and insurance on a vehicle like that too. There are a boatload of used C6's for sale, keep looking.

I would keep looking there are so many affordable deals out there. Many owners are aging and selling their prized low mileage vettes for reasonable money.

In addition to calling your DMV to get clarification, you might want to call your insurance as well. Some insurance companies will not cover a vehicle with a rebuilt title, others will only provide liability insurance.
