After over 40 years of driving countless cars ,pickup trucks and suv's my C6 is by far the worst vehicle i have ever own for tramlining i always have to have both hands on the steering wheel when this thing decided to go left or right you have to be awake to react to keep it straight on the road. Regardless i love this car.
OK....help an old fart out. Just what the heck is this "Tramlining" crap ? Is just some new fangled millennial way of saying "pulling to the right or left" ? Inquiring minds want to know....

It is similar, but it is the tendency of wider tires to follow groves in the pavement.

Basically it's following/tracking in and out of the washed-out 18 wheeler ruts in the road.
'07 legacy with STI driveline did it.
'16 STI did it as well.. I can't be sleepy when I drive this one as I can easily be jerked into amother lane.
'06 forester does it as well.. I daily drive this car.
'18 Q5 prestige..doesn't do it as much.
'97 Mountaineer with BW Manual transfer case < doesn't care about the road.
'07 C6..does it from time to time even on city roads. Kinda feels like one side of the brakes are grabbing.
The list can go on but I've noticed most of the vehicles I have that do tramline are the lighter ones.
Or maybe it's just the shitty roads of southern california.

I might lean more towards the latter. I drive the same roads to work with all of my cars, the only one that tramlines is the GS.

windyC6 don’t be shy to ask, this forum is for all of us Vette lover i am a old fart too.Tramlining make reference to the tramway era when the operator of the train doesn’t have to turn the wheel to steer cuz he was on rails
My C6 was "darty" when I bought it with mostly gone Mich runflats. But new Mich PS3+ and an alignment transformed the car, night & day level improvement. No more darty feeling, Minimal to no tramlining, not an issue. And we got miles of rain ruts here from studded tires. You could water ski on some of them when wet.

I had the same issue with the Goodyear F1 Supercars. My Firestone Wide Oval Indy 500's did not do it. I just got a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and they don't do it either.
Is this just a RF issue or is it a combination of tires and proper alignment?
My GS did it with Nitto's, had it aligned, balanced, still did it, switched to Hankooks and nothing, no more, goes arrow straight, quiet, rides better
