From what I have heard is that the CAGS is there to improve the gas mileage so that the will not be subject to a gas guzzler tax. So if the CAGS save you $1000 on this tax and you have so spend $20 on the CAGS you still have an extra $980 on mods or in your pocket.

Cags is easily defeatable (either by driving style, or with a 50 cent part from RadShack) and it helps keep the econazis off our backs. If it makes the difference between 400 and 450 hp, or 6.0 and 6.4 liters, then I'll gladly take it. That being said, i've heard that the EPA is not looking favorably upon it, and may decide that it's not an acceptable approach to managing fuel economy. After all...it's designed to alter your driving style (and thus save gas) ONLY when driven EXACTLY the way the EPA testers drive. So the rest of the time it doesn't do squat. It's basically an emissions dodge. Speaking of Dodge, I believe the Viper has it too...just no one mentions it as much.

CAGS is just there to avoid the gas guzzler tax which I am
all for. I give more than enough of my hard earned $$
to the bozos in DC. That would be a bummer if the EPA
basically voids the CAGS as a way to avoid the gas
guzzler tax and up the milegage ratings. I wonder how they
determine a milegage rating for BMW's SMG II since it
has so many manual and automatic modes.

I don't mind it being there so we don't get stuck with the gas guzzler tax. As long as it's easily defeated what difference does it make? Ours has been disconnected since we got the car. :yesnod:

I'll be a $1000 ahead since I've never found it to a big deal to say in first until I get over 15 mph. :D

If reliable variable-displacement is available in the C6, CAGS won't be necessary to meet gas-guzzler standards. (I hope I hope I hope.)

So long as I can disable it easily like with the C5, then it's fine by me if it keeps the C6 on the right side of the gas guzzler tax.
