GM map update?
My neighbor just picked up this Corvette and he wants to know if there's a way to update the navigation that's in it.
Is it worth it to update or should he just use Google maps from his phone and is there a way to plug in to the radio to use his phone with the app.
Thanks in advance for any replies or help that you can give us.
This is a pic of his used Corvette that he just bought....

Depends on the year but some update discs can be had for $100. If he has HUD the phone directions won’t show up in the HUD needless to say.

Updates are all over Ebay for $10. Only problem is the last update was 2016 (version 10). It's worth $10 to me just to have the latest update, even though Google maps is much better. Search Corvette Navigation Update on EBay if your interested.

If it's a '12/'13, probably not worth it. If it is '05/'08, probably is.

If it is an 05-10, tell him NOT to disconnect the battery if he wants to keep the clock on him OEM navigation unit working.

Another option would be to save your map update fees and replace the navigation/radio receiver head with an aftermarket unit. Kenwood and Pioneer make great units that are far better than the OEM and easy and cheaper to update. Kenwood uses Garmin nav and they will also will add Apple Carplay/Android Auto. I installed a Kenwood DNX573S several years ago and have no regrets.

That's cheap enough.
