Many years ago, my console cover was loose because the screws that hold it on to the metal spring closure assembly were loose, so I removed them and installed larger screws to keep the cover tight.
That cover is now cracked in a few places, and it's loose again. I ordered a new console cover, and was wondering if someone could take a pic of the screws that hold the cover on to the metal closure assembly.
Are they the same as the screws that hold the top foam cover to the plastic?
I was hoping they were the same, but because the holes in mine were enlarged, I couldn't tell for sure, but I was thinking that they were.
I doubt if in can find the ones I removed so long ago. I will have plenty to take from the old, to put in the new cover.
What did you replace it with? Where did you get it? Post a picture of the new one.
It's just been delivered to my US address, and I haven't driven down to get it, as of yet. It's nothing special just a replacement OEM Ebony cover from an owner who removed this when it was new, to replace with a custom made one from a forum vendor I'm assuming.
Here is a pic of it from the seller.
Take a sample screw to Ace Hardware and see if they have anything that is a match. I have found many screws, nuts and bolts at industrial hardware supply houses like Fastnol or similar suppliers.. I don't know if they are available from GM.
Try AES Corvette Parts. they are a Forum vendor and part out C-6 and C-7 Corvettes.

You won't find them at Ace or any other hardware stores. If you have a salvage yard near, you'll probably find what you need there from another GM car console cheap.
