It all depends if I'm just around town, or doing a road trip.
I'll leave it blank most of the time, if I'm just at home.
On any road trip, I may keep an eye out for coolant temp, toggle the tire pressures now and then to assure there are no issues. I don't use runflat tires, so that is something I keep an eye on when on the road.
I rely on the alarms to keep me informed of any issues. I have Nav on the HUD, so that is usually what I'm paying attention to when on road trips.

Me personally I don't like any lights or messages on the dash, I like it clean. I don't even like driving in Competitive Driving Mode even thou it tightens up the steering nice and firm because it trips the active handling light to a steady on. Do you think you have to monitor your oil temp like something is going to go wrong?

I have the oil temp up, until it gets to operating temp, then I turn it off. its a subtle reminder to me not to romp on the gas til the oil is warm.

How much did you just pay the shop to fix your low mileage engine?

Another oil temp monitor here. With a dry sump motor it takes forever to get warm enough to stand on it. However, I almost always cycle through all the info screens just to be sure the voltage and tire pressure are good before I get too far from home.

What's your point. It had nothing to do with oil temperature or anything related to what a gauge is going to tell me. But if it makes you happy $2890

Wow your a mind reader also. So you know what I am thinking and having the proper gauge up for me to see would have stopped my lifter and cam from frying. Your one hell of a psychic.

Maybe not but these motors don't like to be romped on until the oil temp is up. That is why I leave mine on the oil temp. Can see at a glance if I can get on it or not. Mine is an 07 and just puttering around my oil temps have a hard time getting to operating temp even after driving an hour or so.

Leave it to the friendly folks on the Corvette Forum to turn an innocent question into a junior-high pissing match.

It's not good for ANY motor.

I have a stock LS2, and it will get to around 190° in 8-10 miles, depending on the starting ambient temp.
