It doesn't matter what fob number you get. It has to be programmed for your car. It's suggested that you use the long programming procedure so you can program the fob as #1 and it will also cancel the programming of the lost fob so no one can use it to steal your car.
Oh, sorry, I see you edited your post. The battery for a fob is 2032, don't remember the 2 characters in the front of that.
Sorry, I should have also asked whether you still had another fob or not. You really need to reprogram the old one and the new one.

Okay, the programming procedure which has been posted here before has 2 different processes. The short one just adds a new fob as the next fob number. In your case, it will automatically program the new fob as #3. That means that fob will not have access to the OPTIONS, but will start the car, lock/unlock doors, etc.. It also leaves the lost fob programmed for the car and anyone who finds it could enter and/or steal your car.
The long process in that procedure starts the fob numbers over again with fob #1, then fob #2. It also deletes the programming for that lost fob so it can no longer access your car. It also gives both of your fobs access to the car OPTIONS.

Thanks for the response. Still sounds lIKe a dealer visit to buy a new FOB.
I bought my GS with only 1 fob. So ended up buying another fob with a blank key for $100 on "big auction site". I've seen the post about the reprogram procedure, but chose to do what's in the manual, which looked a little different. Maybe it was just worded differently and it was my visualizing that made it seem different. Either way, it's easy and good to know that nobody else has a key that can be used on my car.
