Engine Code Phew Just EVAP
I was driving home yesterday and my engine light was on. So I immediately start thinking the worse. Although, all the gauges are good, everything was running fine. I get home a couple minutes later and run the code and it is P0442, EVAP. Sure enough my gas cap was not secure. I have been having issues with it the past few fill ups. A few times back I had a similar problem getting it to secure completely. Really hard to get it to actually tighten down. I put a ton of force onto it and still nothing not clamping down. After a couple tries I finally get it secure. Looking at the cap there isn't much to it and not sure why it would be giving me issues. Guess I can look at replacing the cap, but seems like it should be fine. Maybe it isn't the original one?

If you can "put a ton of force onto it" I would say it's not OE. They are known to have a really wimpy ratchet in them, seems like just a foot-pound of torque and they start to ratchet. Some people don't like that and replace them with aftermarket but so far (knock on wood) my OE one still works, no codes, wimpy ratchet or not.
