Graduation Prom Parade
My nephew's daughter had her HS graduation Prom last evening, and it is customary for the high school to hold a vehicle parade from a sports complex to their high school where the Prom dates stop in front of the school and gather for the procession into the school banquet/dance hall.
There was approx 400 graduates, and approx 200 vehicles of all years and makes in the parade which is only about 1/2 mile from the sports complex to the school entrance.
Needless to say, with that many vehicles, it took a long time for the parade to finish.
They had it very well organized, with police in full force etc.
The initial plan was to have my nephew drive the car, while his daughter and date would sit on the "B" pillar. Once I saw how short the distance was from the parade start to the school, I asked her date if he would like to drive the car. He was stoked, and she also wanted to drive the car, but somehow he won out
My nephew picked up the car once they got to the school entrance, and drove it back to the sports complex.
BTW, the school prom was 2 hours from my home, but it was well worth it to see how happy it made them to be in a C6.
Here are some pics.... and the start of the parade.

Thanks, they were very surprised by letting them use the car. My nephew and I had tried to keep it secret, but once you tell more than one person. it's hard to hold the secret long

If nothing else, yellow stands out for sure. There were a few more Vetts, a few more C6's, and some c1's-C5's but I did not see any C7's in this particular parade, although there are a many around the area. There was lot's of older 60's and 70's muscle cars for sure.
Some limo's, BMW's and Mercedes, lot's of trucks, and many unique rides, wheelbarrows, vintage fire truck, etc. etc.

My son's high school was very small - less than 30 students per grade. But they did something similar for prom. It would become an annual contest of who could borrow the coolest car from an uncle, a cousin, a friend of a friend, etc. The couples would go out to eat a pre-prom meal as a group and then parade from there to the school parking lot where parents, family, and friends would all gather to watch each couple arrive and walk into the gym, much like a red carpet event. His junior year, my son managed to borrow a Challenger with a 392 hemi and his senior year, he borrowed a Roush Mustang GT, navy blue with white rally stripes. Too bad I didn't have my C6 then. In my day, I remember parents taking a picture of us on the porch, we went to prom in whatever beater we managed to have at the time, and that was it. Now they have parades, muscle cars, sports cars, classic cars, etc. and it all kicks off with creative "prom-posals".

Really the biggest positive that can actually happen from letting a young man take a Corvette to prom is he can't knock up his date in the backseat.
YMMV

lol No safe space needed, not a snowflake.
Why insinuate that all young women attending prom are easy and that young men are not respectful to their dates. Very cute couple having a great memory, lets keep it that way.

I guess it's all in how you took it. I'd agree with you if I thought Iceaxe directed that comment at the young lady above. I just took it as a joke, in general. That insinuation has always been a myth/joke from a guy's perspective, but my own experiences, unfortunately, demonstrate that it is, in many cases, just a myth.

OP, you probably gave that kid a thrill of his life. He'll remember that night forever.

Now it's a huge deal, with car parades, processions, police and security details, and likey months of planning, and lot's of $$ spent.

The smiles on their faces says it all - well worth the two hour drive.
